Gross alert: Dp compulsively picks his feet....

.... and leaves piles of flakey skin wherever he has been sitting. He very rarely cleans it up. So today - I was hoovering his disgusting skin off the throw on a chair at 3pm today - tonight he was sat there watching TV picking his feet. I repeatedly asked him not to... he stops for a bit, then absently starts again. He's gone to bed and I've just gone to sit in the 'hot seat', and my expensive throws are covered in his skin....Angry [agry] Angry. This is ingrained behaviour and I can't seem to teach a dog new tricks. but I find it the epitome of gross. AIBU? What should I do?

Kill him. We went to the cinema and he actually took his shoe off and started picking his foot through his sock.

Oh that is rank. Really, really gross. I'd give him a serious ultimatum. This can't go on. Ew.

Has he got athletes foot? I got a good spray for it, stops the itching.

Does he know how much you mind? Eeuurrrggghhh!!! My OH kind of picks at his toenails though his socks and that's grim enough though luckily nothing falls off Envy (not envy, vomface).

I'd make yours wear velcro slippers inside at all times so the loud riiiiip of the velcro would sound the impending gross alert, and you could scream "NO!!" at him.

Get a mini dyson or similar, cordless hoover, and hand it to him silently EVERY time he does this. EVERY time.

Or kill him.

That is nasty. My driving instructor picks at his ear wax, inspects it, rolls it into balls, sprinkles over passenger side of car...oh and he pops his shirt open to scratch scabs off his chest as I navigate roundabouts and such like. Honestly it is disgusting especially as I am paying for the ordeal, you have my sympathy...if he has compulsive behaviour (some people snap at their hair, chew fingers etc), get him slipper boots and tell him he has to wear them. Wearing gloves watching Tv was the only way I got my boy to stop finger biting. If he has psoriasis or fungal infection, you can get creams from the chemist. Also get 100% cotton socks for him as cheap, polyester socks or those with lycra in can be a huge sweaty problem causing skin reactions galore. If he soaked his feet in salt water before bed then it may stop the issue.

I'm with @nicenewdusters

Stash it and dump it on his pillow/ his side of the bed/ throw it in his car/ While he's showering/ in the bath.
I'd also give him a pumice stone as a gift and "foot care" gifts... or a pedegg?

That's my thoughts too. I did martial arts for many years and inevitably picked up athletes foot regularly, that's the only times I have had flakey feet. Not that I sat and picked recreationally.

Sounds like he needs to get some treatment.

My ex used to start a conversation, then when I looked at him and replied, would start picking his nose, roll it between his fingers and flick it away. Looking back (bitterly of course Grin) it was one of many things he did which showed how little he cared about me. I was like a pot plant or the dog: he could scratch and sniff as much as he pleased as he didn't have to impress me or behave well in my presence. He would never have done it with someone whose good opinion was important to him.

OP, you have just described my DH. I started a thread about it last year under a different username. It elicited lots of messages of disgust which I showed to him. He was so embarrassed. Although it didn't stop him scratching his feet, he now cleans up after himself. That's the best we've managed I'm afraid.

I used to do this. I used to live in a warm climate and was in flip flops all the time, and my feet would get really dry. And I would pick them. I stopped when I moved to the UK, and was wearing closed shoes most of the time. In the summer, when the weather is nice enough to wear flip flops, I start again.

Make him moisturize his feet (this helped me) and wear some sort of thick sock or slipper in the house so he can't do it!
