I've emailed Women's Aid - now what?

For various reasons I cannot call them right now but things came to a head tonight so I've emailed them. Now what? In terms of practical information what can they do to help me leave?

I'm in an emotionally abusive and controlling marriage and want out, after trying to change him I've realised there really is no point in attempting to change someone who can't see there is a problem.

Does anyone know how WA help in these situations?

Hi op,

WA will get back to your email. They will encourage you to ring them to talk it through. They cannot give detailed advice on the email, but they will certainly reassure you that you are experiencing abuse. My first contact with them was by email, I felt too embarrassed to call when I was experiencing EA because I was worried they would think I was calling about a minor issue. When they responded, I did ring and spent the first few minutes apologising incase I was holding up the line and someone who was being beaten was trying to get through. They were so helpful and I have had SO MUCH support from them and their extended services. I really would recommend you giving them a call if you have time and space to do so. You may not get a response to the email for a day or two. Feel free to PM me if you like. Good luck.
