I went out this morning and asked DH to watch DD for the morning, this is very rare as he's so bone idle he sits on the playstation or the pc and just hopes she'll find something to ammuse herself with.

Anyway we had a long talk ealier this week and I told him I was sick of being a single parent in a sense, he should take joint care etc and I should be able to go out and trust him, if I cant then maybe we should call it a day etc... he cried, apogised, promised me he would change and start sharing the parenting/houswork etc 50/50.

So I went out this morning, just got back to find DD in the living room with my scrapbook collection (anyone who does scrapbooking will know how bad this is), all my papers, the glue, photos, beads, decorations etc...a full box of the stuff, £100's worth of craft material and its all over the floor, cut up, ripped, glued together, she even had my actual scrapbook with 2 years worth of work in it.

I immediately went nuts and went to find DH, on the pc as I expected and he replied "what?? she said she wanted to do you a picture, I didnt think you'd mind her using your things..."

Please tell me I'm not over-reacting here? I feel like killing him.

perhaps he didn't realise about your actual scrap book- but maybe he thought you'd be pleased to come home to a nice picture?

karategal - I would have reacted the same as you, don't worry!

He's being very irresponsible, what if she'd found scissors etc? You are not overreacting, he is being lazy and selfish

OMG I would be livid.

I do scrapbooking and,not only know how expensive it is, but also how dangerous it is too.

I would take his card and go and buy yourself some more kit to make you feel better.

I hope your dd hasn't ruined too much of your stuff.

how old is DD?

HappyDaddy Fri 23-Feb-07 15:19:35

So DH isn't worried that she may have drank the glue, eaten the beats or cut herself on the scissors? Typical.

Agree with you. Even if his intention was there that she could do you a picture why wasn't he supervising? As the others have said she could have got scissors or drunk glue, got hold of craft wire, anything. I think what would make me super-mad would be how soon this happened after your heart to heart. Has he apologised at all yet?

I think it speaks volumes that he didn't have any idea how valuable your scrap-booking materials are and how important they are to you. And plonking some stuff in front of her and then going off to another room is hardly supervising, is it.
