Tell me what you did with photos of your ex

I'm struggling with this. Have binned some and kept others (generally those where we seem to be having a nice time, ones at family events or where we are with other friends).

However a bit of me feels unresolved about it. By keeping some I mean. It ended badly and have had NC for about 4 years. Have no desire to ever speak to him again and look back on my time with him with very mixed feelings. We did have some nice times but he hurt me badly. It would be neater in my mind to just chuck all the photos but essentially erasing ten years of my life if I do that.

New bf moving in, so clearing out. No kids so don't need to keep anything for the benefit of children.

What did you do with yours? If you had wedding photos did you keep them?

I binned all of them, unless they were group photos. We weren't married.

I got rid of all of mine. Wedding photos and all.

They are memories I don't need or don't ever think I will have the desire to look back on.

It was quite liberating!

Regarding my recent ex I kept them but only for our LO to have. Previous boyfriend i had no children with i threw them away but kept the teddy he gave me but only because i love teddy bears and its sitting in my collection lol

I kept them - it's about 15 years since we split. They bring back interesting memories, just like other old photos - no bad feelings as I've long since moved on.

I feel, as you said, that you can't erase (or rewrite history) - my ex was part of my life for nearly 10 years, I don't want to destroy reminders of that part of my history.

I've kept my wedding photos. I don't see or speak to my ex but I'm very neutral about the relationship now. The photos are just memories.

I think I left them in the house so if he hasn't got rid of them, then it's his and his new wife's problem! I am, however, gutted that I paid for a lovely canvas of a wedding photo to hang in the living room and left the week after it turned up. Any photos on social media were swiftly deleted though and I untagged myself in anything I could find.

Mine are in a box in the loft (it was pre digital). I loved him very much at the time and it was an amicable split - we met young and just outgrew one another. I haven't seen him for 12 years and don't wish to (been with DH for 11 years) but it'll be nice to look back on one day.

Interesting thread - I was wondering the same myself! I was married 12 years ago for a brief time when we were both young. The wedding album has some gorgeous photos of my family in and I feel completely indifferent to the exH but am now in a serious relationship and I think I should really bin them. Maybe I should just shred the pics with him in?!

I kept all mine, wedding photos, hols, the lot. It was a part of my life. (20 years). I'm not going to throw it all away. Have no desired to get back with my ex and have a tricky relationship with him now, so I don't feel sentimental about them at all. I just enjoy occasionally looking back on times past the same as looking at any other old snaps.

I binned them all. It felt great, but it was a relationship I would rather forget that I had.

I've just put them all in an album for the kids. Just the ones of him and the kids in that album so I don't have to open it

I've kept every photo of every long term partner I've had. They're all in albums in storage boxes in my garage.

I went to some very interesting places and took lots of photos with all of my exs. I also had a great time in geese destinations. I am not going to throw away all of those memories because I've split with someone.

The photos I have of my exH are all there for our DC when they get older. They can do with them as they please.

Bin job

OliviaBensonOnAGoodDay Mon 09-Jan-17 22:22:04

Binned them.

FlickeryWicket Mon 09-Jan-17 22:23:59

Kept. For the DC, because I don't feel anything anymore and because I look young and gorgeous grin

LineyReborn Mon 09-Jan-17 22:25:08

I kept them for my DC.

PickAChew Mon 09-Jan-17 22:25:44

I threw away most of the wedding photos with him in over a bottle of wine, the week I left. All the rest that I couldn't be bothered sorting through, I shoved in a box and put away, out of sight, for another 5 years. Only then did I feel strong enough for a rational sort out (there were hundreds of photos and some mixed in that I wanted to keep) and chuck out.
