I have a huge crush...

She's only my temporary manager. My actual manager (S) is on an extended vacation.

But she just... does things to me. Stupid, teenagery things like butterflies in the stomach whenever she lets out one of her trademark dorky giggles... She's a complete goofball, and I"m head over heels.

Common sense has kept me quiet. I googled for an active forum to join just to have some strangers to talk to about this!! I'm aware I should just put the feelings aside until they pass...

...but she won't be my manager forever. Just for the next month. Should I try talking to her about it then, I wonder?

Are you and her single and available? If so, I'd flirt and build a friendship then ask her out on a date just before she finishes.

faithinthesound · 04/01/2017 13:49

Yes, we are both single and available. She's really easy to talk to, largely because she's just such a doofus! But she's beautiful, too... She's a beautiful doofus.

Oh, for the record, I had feelings for her before she was put in charge of us. I had no idea that when S went on vacation, it would be M that took her place temporarily. It's been... stressful, haha.

So will she just return to her old position or leave the company? Depending on how close you work - could be awkward. :/
Do you get the impression she's interested?
(You sound lovely BTW :D)

She'll return to her old position, which isn't working directly with me at all. I only ever run into her in passing in the course of a normal work day - that's how we got to talking in the first place.

She always seems happy to see me, and she quite often stops what she's doing to talk to me for a few minutes (we ARE working, after all!!) and she laughs at my jokes.

Haha, she's the lovely one! :D

So you don't mind me coming around here just to bleat about how beautiful she is?

We worked Christmas Eve together. Some of us we wearing reindeer antler headbands, and we told her she had to join in the festivities - so she wore a Christmas tree headband. She's a teeny little thing, so the joke was that with the headband, at least we could see the star on the stop of the tree above the shelves! And she wore a little red dress... When I saw her in the morning, she said "Hello" and all I could say was "...wow".

I suspect I'm not exactly managing to be subtle about my adoration. Cutest. Christmas. Tree. Ever.

You know what she actually looks like? The angel you put on the top of the tree. Blonde hair, gorgeous face, so short and tiny and sweet and perfect.

I really wish I could have kissed her under the mistletoe lol...

Saw her today. She set me a task for my shift last night and then said "but I understand if you don't have time to get it all done".

I BEAST-MODED THAT TASK.

Today she was soooooo impressed and I just basked in it :D Also her hair looked beautiful today and I told her so, and she blushed. She BLUSHED.

I'm dying lol

Could you ask her to go for coffee sometime in a friendly way to see if she is at all interested?

Report
faithinthesound · 07/01/2017 10:33

It's half past eleven at night here, and she and I have been texting for two hours. Nothing sexual, just friendly getting to know you stuff. (The first text was her, checking I knew my start time for a shift next week had changed. I flirted a little in my reply. Now I think she's flirting back...

Haven't asked her about coffee yet but I'm sitting here quietly dying because her texts are just as dorky and sweet as talking to her in person is.

Are you both women? I'm going by the "you go girl!" comment upthread. Do you know she's gay? She might just be a friendly person with no hidden agenda, and be shocked to know you have romantic feelings for her.

Report
faithinthesound · 08/01/2017 08:20

Yes, we're both women. But, we're a pretty open workplace. It's common knowledge that I'm gay. She's newer, and sexuality wise yes, she's an unknown quantity, but... she knows I'm gay, and my flirting doesn't seem to have freaked her out yet. She's been flirting back, as far as I can tell.

Really nice to read a thread where both people are single and available, no mention of affairs etc etc etc, just positive stuff

:)

Lovely. If you both keep flirting then hopefully it will naturally lead somewhere good. Maybe if you ask her if she would like to go for coffee when she leaves the current posting then that would make it clear that you have something in mind that isn't strictly professional Wink

Update: She has a tattoo on the back of her neck that says "Dance like no one's watching".

I'm gonna do it. I'm going to ask her out.
