I split from my ex quite a few months back, we're on good terms but entirely platonic. I am enjoying the odd bit of casual dating and very happy to not be involved in anything serious. I have great friends, a stressful but fulfilling career etc.

But ugh Christmas. I'm almost 29 and back with my family over Christmas. I love them dearly and it's great, we always have fun and I know I'm luckier than many people. But I thought by this age I would have my own serious partner, ideally my own family. I feel like I'm in some sort of suspended adulthood. Am I totally pathetic?

No you're not pathetic when I was your age I was married with a toddler.Note the was!
Divorced him finally just over 8 years ago, best thing that I've ever done!
Have been with my lovely DP for over 7 yrs & he's taken on me & my DC's.So yes it can get better & yes there is more happiness to come for you even if you can't see it atm.
I think that Xmas & all the hype & pressure of making it that perfect time is adding alot to how you're feeling.

At 28 I was with my parents for Christmas (divorced one DS) and I felt the same. Fast forward 7 years and it's a lot different. Hang in there.

Met the love of my life at 36, have two dcs. Enjoy your freedom, do everything you want to do, and it will all happen for you .

Thank you and happy Christmas to you all. I'm buying a new property next year and considering going via sperm donation once I've done so.
