If we die...

What do we have to do to ensure that the children do not go to a particular relative? Is that part of a will? We don't have anything of value to "pass on" to worry about.

We made a will earlier this year and named guardians for our children, plus a reserve set if the first ones weren't able/willing to take them on at the time.

You can name who you would like to be guardians of your children in your Will, but you cannot force those people to take them, even if they agree now.

You may not have anything of value to pass on now, but that might not be the case when you die - it's always worth having a will sorted.

Could we give a list naming every possible person we know before one in particular? grin

See a solicitor and get a will made. They will include who you want to be guardian. I am sure you can say if they is someone you definitely don't want to have the children if something happened to you.

Not that I'm particularly interested or anything but...what's the back story here?
