'I told you so'

So it looks like the inevitable will happen and DP and I will split. It will be messy and I'm particularly vulnerable after a MH breakdown earlier in the year. How do I get through this without the 'I told you so' from the friends and family who rightly thought this would be a disaster from the get go?

You sigh, look sad, and say 'you were right'.
If they carry on crowing after that, they are steaming turds and can safely be ignored.

Going through this myself at the moment. I've heard "I told you so" in so many different ways I've lost count! Publicly holding my head high, but privately sobbing into my sofa.

But as the only non-judgemental friend one friend put it, if I'd not given this relationship a chance I would always have wondered "what if...."

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I'm sure it's better to have tried and failed, than to regret not trying at all.
