i just don't feel like going out anymore lol. we went out for our anniversary last week and both fell asleep as soon as we got in after stuffing our faces. when I woke up the next day I thought what a waste of effort wont be doing that again. however my dd age 12 has a friend that lives locally near the town centre and her parents have asked us for a drink this Saturday night. I expected hubby to say he wont want to after working all day but no he wants to go!
this sudden surge of activity has stunned me and I don't know how to do it. the mum apparently quite shouty etc according to daughter and I cant be bothered to make small talk and I'm no good at being friendly if I'm not that keen.
how does everyone else cope? do I just get drunk to get through it or just have a couple and feign a headache to go home?
maybe I'm getting old but I'm dreading it. I just want to stay home with my cats

Step 1: try to have a good time and engage, ask questions and don't care what they think of you.
If step 1 fails
Step 2: get drunk and try step 1 again
Step 3: doesn't matter got drunk.
Step 4: don't go out with them again.

I sympathise completely - DW and I hardly ever go out and often bemoan the fact. But then when we do have a social event to go to then we seem to actively resent it! If it's on a Saturday then I'm still tired from working all week, there's usually a ton of stuff to do around or about the house and two young DCs to work/play with - by 8pm on a Saturday we're just fit for crashing on the couch with some wine and crisps rather than going out.

When I was in my twenties I was told this would happen and never believed it!
