Is there really any point ?

6 months ago I was begging my ex partner to try this. He refused.

The relationship is now over at my instigation. Now he wants to go. Is there really any point ? We don't have children together. We are not married. I beleive there are two huge deal breakers which I do not think he will be able to / prepared to change.

Can I be bothered ? Should I ? Can it ever actually work ?

Never had relationship counselling myself but why would you bother if you've ended it? Sounds like the relationship has run its course and you would be wasting money. Time to move on, particularly as you don't really have any ties.

If you have children, there may be some point to counselling - to discuss what you would like to do in terms of both of you having / seeing your children.
Otherwise, IMO, it would just result in the whole thing being dragged out. Why prolong it? Just draw a line if you can, and move on.
