Relationships

Have you ever 'built bridges' with someone after a long time?

How on earth do you do it?

Was it worth it?

Had a big fall out with a parent 4 years ago. Not really in contact now-the odd v short phone call, I send b day cards and cams cards but my DC and I don't get any in return.

We've moved 3 hours drive away from my parent now so seeing them is even more remote.

It makes me very sad about it sometimes but I also feel sometimes that maybe too much water has passed under the bridge and it's time to move on. After all I'm getting no positive signs!

Have you ever got back a relationship with a loved one or friend after a fall out?

Yes. My sibling didnt speak for 5 years and upon reconciliation it was ok for a few months. Beyond that they went back to their old ways. Its been 2 years now and it's been very sporadic contact. They went right back to their old ways.

Yes, I was out of touch with my sister for 10 years. We are now on cordial terms, having had to meet again when our mother was seriously ill. But we're not close, and I wouldn't want that to change. It helps that she has moved halfway across the world. We meet for coffee when she visits home, and exchange occasional emails with updates about our lives. We get on fine at this distance and I don't find it upsetting, but that's probably because we didn't grow up together as siblings. If we had I imagine it would be much harder emotionally.

But yes, as NowWhat has experienced, the reason why I wouldn't want to be close to her again is because I'm fairly sure she would go back to her old ways.
