How do I get over this crush. Really struggling!

I recently moved to a different building for my job. I didn't know anyone in this building even though I've worked for the company for a few years. At the same time I split with my dp (father to my dd). This happened just under 6 months ago.

Over the past 2 months I have developed a HUGE crush on a man who works on the floor above. We don't directly work together but I have to go into his office once a week and this is the highlight of my week. I just want to talk to him all the time. We seem to get on well (laughing, joking, him asking me questions about myself) and he always seems happy to see me. He hasn't got a girlfriend (well he didn't when I asked him a month ago) but is always texting on his phone so may be seeing someone now. I jokingly asked him if it was a girl he was texting the other day and he just laughed.

He hasn't shown any signs on being interested in me even though he's more chatty with me then anyone else and we can literally talk for a hour without any awkward silences. He did mention a local event and I asked him if he wanted to go with me but he said now. He says he never really goes out and that he prefers staying in so I didn't take it personally but obviously if there was a chance he liked me he would have said yes.

Sorry to ramble on but has anyone get any tips on how to get over this crush. It's not having any effect on my work as we don't work directly together but I can feel myself becoming distracted. I have NEVER felt this crazy over a crush, I barely know him and yet I can't stop thinking about him. I am not a needy or over emotional person but I can feel myself feeling a bit sad that he doesn't like me back. I know I need to snap out of it but it's so hard when you like someone but they don't like you back.

I was with xdp for over 6 years so it's been a while since I was 'out there' and need to learn how to control my feelings!

Why do you want to get over it?

Wardrobia Wed 08-Jun-16 19:00:41

Because he obviously has no interest in me sad

Oh bless, I think you need to reduce the time you spend with him, be polite and friendly but not so chatty.

Did you ask if he had a girlfriend or seeing someone? Just wondering if he's gay and not keen to be out at work.

Oh, I feel for you. I am in a similar position, having a major crush on someone that just started seeing someone else (so, in other words, he doesn´t feel the same about me). I work closely with him and really don´t want to have to stop so I really, really just want to turn the feelings off. If only it were that easy...

Aww you don't know for sure! I can completely understand how you're feeling though. Maybe as it's early about get yourself out there again and start dating?

I just asked if he had a girlfriend noname. I only really spend a couple of hours a week with him and then maybe 10 minutes a day if we have lunch at the same time so don't think I'll be able to reduce it sad My heart almost comes out of my chest when I see him and I try my best and probably fail and acting all breezy.

son it's such a horrible feeling isn't it? I genuinely don't know what to do with myself. I have honestly never felt like this but i KNOW it's just a crush. I am just completely infatuated. I really feel for you, especially because your crush is seeing someone. I would be gutted if found out he was definitely seeing someone because it should be me

gems Ye you're right, I suppose I just need to broaden my horizons a little bit. My ds goes to his dad's every weekend and I usually just stay at home and relax after a busy week but maybe I should get out a. It more at the weekend.

I just feel so ridiculous, I really am not a needy. I was with xdp for years and before him I never had that infatuation feeling so this is all new for me. Oh well.
