This is our sixth date, we are staying in a rather nice hotel with an fantastic restaurant.
I'm here he will be arriving within the next hour.
I am nervous, I hate being nervous as it sets off my IBS.
He text to say he is nervous as well as excited.

We have a bottle of wine in our room, I'm trying not to drink the lot to steady my nerves, I'm 51 for god sake, tell me about your first night away.
, make me laugh with stories of nerves and any stories of how bad it was, so I at least won't feel crap if it goes wrong.
At least I have matching undies and wine.
It's going to be OK isn't it?

You want a laugh you say?

Last year I met a guy online. After a number of weeks we agreed to meet halfway and booked a hotel. I was excited but sick with nerves. When I arrived I drank two glasses of red wine. I don't drink red wine as it makes me sick. Fast forward a few hours and it's bedtime. I disappear to have a shower. I'm then sick as a dog. I block the stupid wee sink. I panic. I'm out in a sweat and I'm in the bathroom for an eternity.

He decides I must be hiding because I don't want to have sex with him so when I finally come out of bathroom he pretends he is asleep. I'm raging and hurt as I think this must because he doesn't fancy me. I lie awake most of the night willing for the morning to come and for me to be OK to drive home.

When he finally wakes up we have words and I have to tell him about sickness and sink blocking incident. Couldn't really hide it as sink still blocked and bathroom looks as if someone had died in there with white towels soaked in red wine and the likes. Don't ask. I tried to soak up contents of sink with towels in a desperate attempt at unblocking it?!

Anyway we both eventually came clean to each other. Had a laugh and made full use of the facilities until check out. We went on to see each other for around 6 months. Have remained friends and still laugh about it.

Enjoy. Nerves are natural x

Oh dear Starry, I'm hoping it won't be as bad as that.
I have the lamp on which won't make my stretch marks so vivid <hopeful>
I've got my cover all PJs.
It's a long time since I was in a hotel with a bloke.

I was in a similar situation very recently, Klaptout. You are right that it will all be okay. flowers

Don't do anything you don't want to do.

If you want to shag him, speaking from my own recent experience, DON'T initiate it by saying 'I'm so nervous that I'd like it if you would stop telling me how much you like me and we could just hurry up and get the shagging out of the way, please'. blush

Enjoy and report back

Joysmum Sat 30-Apr-16 18:51:06

Is this the first time you'll have been intimate then? Sorry to be so personal blush

The first time DH and I went away we'd already been living together for 2 months. We'd been best friends for years before we 'hooked up' so when that happened we lived together from then on and knew we were right together. There were no dramas for our first time away. .

So far we've only been kissing, I'm so not cut out for dating.
He seems really nice, we met on a widow site.
He isn't here yet, I don't think he would stand me up.
We live 50 miles apart and our dates have been meeting half way.
If he isn't here in the next half hour and hasn't text or phoned me what do I don't?
I'm not used to being in this situation.

Klaptout Sat 30-Apr-16 19:10:58

If my memory serves my right Somerville you are a widow too?

DarrenHardysDrongo Sat 30-Apr-16 19:13:59

You seem a bit anxious about him not being there yet, what time did he say he'd be there?
What time is your table booked for?

Seeyounearertime Sat 30-Apr-16 19:15:02

If he isn't here in the next half hour and hasn't text or phoned me what do I do

Call him and see where he is.

Somerville Sat 30-Apr-16 19:15:03

Yes Klaptout I am. Thought I recognised you too but didn't want to mention it in case you didn't want to talk about that.

Hopefully he'll arrive soon. flowers

Klaptout Sat 30-Apr-16 19:21:47

Glad my memory is working!
He said he would be here about seven, table is booked for eight.
Well if he doesn't turn up I will just have to drink the wine!

Whatthefreakinwhatnow Sat 30-Apr-16 19:25:44

Bless you, first night nerves get to us all! Has he arrived now? I really hope it goes well and you both have a wonderful time smile

A courage building wine for you OP

Somerville Sat 30-Apr-16 19:25:53

I hope he will be there soon.

It would be fine to text at this stage and check where he is.

Maybe timekeeping.

Or maybe, since he's also widowed, he's outside feeling nervous. Do you know how much he's dated already?

DarrenHardysDrongo Sat 30-Apr-16 19:31:01

Oh no! This must just be adding to your nerves.

If he's still not there now, it's 7.30pm, text him. You two should be going down to the bar now for an aperitif for an 8pm table!

Princesspinkgirl Sat 30-Apr-16 19:32:21

I met a guy online and after a couple of dates we booked a swanky hotel in London. So I arrived a bit late in a taxi, hot and flustered and rushed into the foyer of the hotel which was huge and very posh. About 8 people turned to look at me and as I stopped, I could feel my hold-ups slipping down my thighs. I had to make it across the foyer as calmly as possible without trying to hoik them up.

He's still a very good friend and we laugh about it - he was very complimentary about how I looked, but I felt like a big, sweaty wreck. The hold-ups held up until we got to the room! blush

WellErrr Sat 30-Apr-16 19:38:37

Klaptout Sat 30-Apr-16 22:16:51

He arrived just after my last post, with beautiful flowers.
We had a lovely meal.
He is in the bathroom, he has been there a while now, I hope he's not climbed out the window!
