Just that really, love to hear from men and women and if it was received well!

I baked him a pie. A cheese and onion pie.
John Cooper Clarke was right. You can always get a guy with a pie.

I took a bf to Venice for 3 nights as a birthday surprise.
His response was 'Why Venice?' Shock

Well, I put pastry hearts on it. It was awesome. He is devoted to me now. He bought me a tin of Uncle Joe's Old Mint Balls. I love him for it.
( Maybe it's a Northern thing?)

Venice? Why? Why not Blackpool?

Quite small and sad but it has never been forgotten by DH Grin:

Basically his favourite 'sweets' are those strawberry creams from Quality Street. So one Christmas back in the good old days of Woolworths pick n'mix I picked through all the Quality Street until I managed to gather about 30 strawberry creams, put them in a wee box and put it under the tree Smile

Tesco have started doing big packs of them now so the magic is gone!

I made a guy a pie with pastry genitalia on it once. It was at university though so it was borderline acceptable.

That's not my most romantic gesture. Just a pie-muse.

Oh errr!! I've got to start baking pies! Wink

Mine was 3 days in Amsterdam, with two friends all paid for by me and I looked after the kids and dogs at home.

Then Viagra, red wine and MIL babysitting when he returned.

Last week Grin

I proposed to my boyfriend with a pie. He said his type of woman would be one who brought him pies.. so I got his Mother in on the act and got down on one knee - ring in one hand, pie in the other... I think that was pretty romantic Grin.

Another one was finding a copy of 'Cosmos' by Carl Sagan which apparently was a book he loved as a child

I also booked a random weekend in Amsterdam and we went to the Computer Games museum.

... Yesterday I gave him his Easter 'Egg' early... Loads of different jerky and meat protein as he's on the Atkins diet and I didn't want to spoil it for him so thought of something different involving food Smile

I sent him on a trip to the Monaco Grand Prix first class with his best mate for 3 days - all expenses paid. He never reciprocated. We're now divorced.

My partners mum died a long time ago and she has a bench in the seaside town we live in. I commissioned an artist to do a painting of it so his mum was always with him in his house..... he was very teary. Worth every penny.

DP's parents are from another country but he was born here and raised bilingual. The rest of his family still live in his parents' home country and a vast proportion of them speak little or no English (although some of them speak English very well which certainly makes trips there more enjoyable!).

I started learning their language in secret because it's flipping hard and when we went over to visit I started using the few words I knew, both in conversation to greet his family or to point things out on menus or in the town centre. He nearly cried he was so touched!

I was pregnant at Christmas and seriously missing cheese and pâté (and port). He did some research and found that pregnant women could eat different cheeses as long as they were pasteurised. He then sourced a pasteurised Stilton from a posh food hall (Selfridges) and bought it for me. Not quite pie but I was very chuffed! It was his only romantic gesture. We're now divorced because he's a twatbut I was impressed at the time.

Some of these strike me as kind and thoughtful but not exactly romantic.

I'm not a very romantic person Sad but I'm good at the little thoughtful gestures like picking up on a favourite type of biscuit and getting some in even though I don't like them myself. That kind of thing.

I sent a man a love-letter. By email. In bullet points. Giving him the sound telling-off he so richly deserved.

I'm not very romantic. Blush and there was no pie.

I sent him a pot plant. He did want one but then complained that it was embarrassing getting sent one. Confused

When STBXH had a disagreement with his then business partner and said business partner removed his laptop etc, I went out and bought him a MacBook Air. Installed all the software he needed and gave it to him as a present with a lovely card saying I had faith in him.

Pre Apple Music, I also spent days burning his cd's to computer and loading all his music onto an iPod for a Christmas present.

He never remotely reciprocated....Sad

Thought I would start a thread on something a bit more lighthearted to cheer everyone up mid week.
I have got a story relating to a pie strangely... I was out with my friends last summer and it was the end of the evening and I was waiting for my friend who was at the bar - a guy came over and said you look really fed up ... Ok ... He then said lets go to a strip club and then go for a pie ... Hmm I politely declined BlushHmm maybe I should start a thread ' worst chat up lines ever' Wink

I used to be an interpreter at the EU and in a will-they-won't-they situation with a fellow interpreter. Egged on by my friend, I found out which meeting he was in on Valentine's Day and left red roses and a little note in his booth in the morning before he turned up.

It seemed a really good idea at the time, but looking back as an older and wiser woman, it makes me want to be a little bit sick in my mouth but that's possibly because he turned out to be really, really bizarre and the whole thing was doomed to failure, and what a waste of €20 that was.
