Internet History showing porn

isheisntheishe · 12/02/2016 16:23

OH swears blind he hasn't been looking at porno sites, but whenever I clear internet history it shows that somebody has been looking.
And it's not me.

Before anybody says what am I doing snooping, it's a laptop we both use.
Is it possible he's telling the truth, and these sites have just magically appeared? Hmm

Or am I being incredibly naive.

Do you have any DC's that might have had access to laptop?

Do you have children? A lodger? Etc

Is it just one note in the history, which could be explained by a dodgy pop up, or lots of different sites?

Although if it were a pop up, I would expect him to mention it.

How many pages?
If it's just the odd random one then it's possible it's pop up ads. being generous
Do you have DCs?

X-post!

isheisntheishe · 12/02/2016 16:27

No, it's just the two of us.

It's lots of different sites, some in 'blocks of about 6 or 10' (if that makes sense)

Sorry to say this then but it sounds as if he is looking at porn.
In blocks of that many pages it won't just be pop ups. Flowers

I can't believe he can just outright deny it!

Report
Roseberrry · 12/02/2016 16:32

It most definitely doesn't appear there by itself.

Why does he deny it? Is it something you've argued about before?

Report
isheisntheishe · 12/02/2016 16:33

As an example, imagine each site is the letters of the alphabet, the history will look something like this

a, b b b b b b, c, d, e e e e e e e e e, f, g, h, i, j j j, k, l and so on.

It's as if he's looked at certain sites once and others, he's stayed on for longer looking at various things numerous times.

Unless he IS telling the truth and he hasn't been looking at anything Confused

I suppose I'm hoping someone will come along and tell me it could be a virus or something.
He doesn't seem the type to look at porn.

He has been looking at Porn!!

I've never known a virus to add porn to your search history. Does it show the time and date?

Oh come on. I've never met a man who didn't look at porn. (OK I suppose it's possible that I have and we just never got around to discussing it. But every single man I've ever spoken to about porn, has watched porn.)

He's watching porn. Sites don't just magically appear in your browsing history without you going to them, I'm afraid.

I'd be more concerned that a) he thinks you're stupid enough to believe that and b) he's so stupid that he doesn't know how to clear his history.

Report
isheisntheishe · 12/02/2016 16:41

I don't think it shows time and date (I don't want to click on anything to find out)
I've cleared the latest lot so can't look at the moment.

Where would it show time and date?

If internet history is showing porn then someone has been looking at porn on that laptop.

I use lots of spurious sites to download or stream TV shows. I get lots of virus', pop ups etc. None add chunks of porn to my internet history. I can't think of any that would do that, the odd pop up yeah, blocks of porn sites visited in one session? No.

pocketsavious, as difficult as it is to believe in this day and age, he really doesn't know a lot about computers. I don't think he would know how to clear history or do private browsing.

I wouldn't say he's stupid, but he is when it comes to computers or anything 'technical' as he puts it.

He's over the age of 50. No excuse I know.

There is no virus I know of that would add porn to the browsing history.
DO NOT TELL HIM HE CAN HIDE HIS HISTORY! Grin

What browser do you use op?

On mine (firefox) you can click "show all history" and it will give you a box in which you can see date and time etc. mine even lists how many times you have visited a page!

Report
Roseberrry · 12/02/2016 16:56

Well I think you know now that he has been looking, so how do you feel about it?

Report
isheisntheishe · 12/02/2016 16:59

Firefox

BadDoGooder, I will look out for that next time

I hid the laptop from him twice last week and the history showed no porn on those occasions.

I have to face it.
If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then
Its a duck.

Roseberry, I'm not angry, or jealous.

Disappointed and a bit unsettled, yes.
He's not who I thought he was, if that makes sense. There's a side I didn't know was there.

Personally I would be more upset at being lied to, assuming its regular porn of course!
