Tinder date - looks anxiety

Been on a couple of OD dates in the dim and distant past, all fine.

I've been asked out later this week but am so nervous about whether I'll match up to the pics?! Have seen the guy's pic (and had a cheeky social media stalk) and he is way out of my league, we're not very physically well matched I don't think. I look good in my pictures but definitely not as good in real life. I'm not ugly but not great.

I'm really paranoid that he'll cut short the date or it'll be bad because I won't look like the girl he imagined Blush

Should I call it off??

Anyone have any advice? I'm so scared that if I do get "rejected" it'll be because of my looks Blush

It may be that he likes you for more than the way you look, so don't panic. He mght be good at taking selfies too. But if you want to feel more at easem you can always add a picture to your profile, where you look more like yourself, before you meet.

Either you have chemistry and find each other interesting, or you don't. What does it matter what the reason is? Nobody here can say what will happen on your date, but you should be confident, and just go out with the aim of having a nice evening. If it turns into something, then great. But try and put less pressure on yourself.
Good luck (from one amateur yogi to another).
Ps I have a tinder date too on weds!

I agree with the tiger about putting up to date pics on your profile... But obviously everyone selects ones they like of themselves! As long as they are recent, I really would try not to worry about it.

He probably looks, like you think you do, like much less in real life too.

I wouldn't worry. Even if you do get 'rejected' (i.e., no spark, no second date), you've only lost 1 night of your life.

Thanks both, yes they are all recent pics (oldest is 2 years old, most recent a few weeks) and aren't heavily doctored or anything, just quite flattering. Ok I will go for it. So paranoid though as he is a lot better looking than me.

Two things: not too au fait with Tinder but surely everyone puts their very best pics on? Presumably he'll have had a wee stalk at your available online profile/s too?

If he cuts the date short then he's not a keeper, eh?!

You'll be being unduly harsh on yourself. Just remind yourself of your strongest points and enjoy your date!

It's just a date, there's probably 50 reasons why there won't be a second one. Just try to relax and enjoy it for what it is. No point dating if you don't actually enjoy it.

If someone was only with you for your looks that's not the kind of person you want anyway! Good luck

There was a MN thread this week about what league we were in. One poster said that she intentionally gives off 'you should be so lucky' vibes to men, who ordinarily she thinks are out of her league and that it works a treat.

Hold your head up, style it out and update us afterwards!

I went on a date with someone who had the nerve to look disappointed when he saw me. He still wanted to have sex with me at the end of the night though.

What was the old dating thread rule? You are the prize...

If he's looking on tinder, he doesn't care what you look like, he's just looking for a shag anyway.

With kindness, if you're that anxious about what others think of you and your looks, you're going to find OLD extremely stressful.

Chill out, if they like you/you like them it's a winner, if they/you don't. It's not a big deal. Means nothing about you, or them.

Thicken up that skin! Smile
