Would someone tell me what to think of my partners junk mail? He is always fast to delete them too fast iynwim. I've had a chance to look at them and its from [email protected] or russian girls and justcamstv and many more erotic staff. Does it mean he visits those pages?

Yes, or similar.

Not necessarily. I have a junk folder of emails telling me there are lots of hot housewives in my area just desperate to meet me.

Unless it's the W.I I'm not interested. Smile

Shutthatdoor · 02/11/2015 18:33

Not necessarily at all. I get all sort of random junk emails.

Check his internet history if you want to know what pages he visits. (although he may delete that as well.)

He may just be embarrassed to see them in his email? I get daily spam for "pen1s enlargement" and "vi@gra" and have never googled for or used either (what with not having a penis and all...)

I looked in my junk mail the other day first time in ages Iv looked in it, and there were messages from sites saying 'want a hot fucking date'
'Looking for casual relationships' they even had my name I didn't click on them didn't want to see what the actual site was lol.
But no Iv Never been on any dating sites or anything like that. So I wouldn't worry unless there's other stuff which has made you wonder x

I've had emails offering dating sites, Viagra, 'attack your woman with your girth', 'surprise your woman tonight' (sadly this wasn't advocating doing the bloody washing up for a change). It's MY email address and I know I've never visited any naughty sites & DH can't access my email so it's not him.

WitchWay · 02/11/2015 18:43

attack your woman with your girth FFS that would be funny if it wasn't so ridiculous & pathetic

Report
pocketsaviour · 02/11/2015 19:16

I get that kind of spam all the time, on email accounts that have never visited a porn site, let alone a dating/hookup one.

"Hot russian girls want to fuck tonight" etc. My email address is clearly female as well!

Report
Clutterbugsmum · 02/11/2015 19:24

Me too pocketsaviour, ironically my DH (again his email address clearly male) kept getting Emails for handbags.

It got so bad he set up an automatic 'spam filter' to get rid of them.

Yep I get hot Russian girls and I have never looked at sites like that or anything vaguely similar! I'm also getting lonely Brazilian girls for variation. Means nothing

I'm still waiting for the ank transfer from the Saudi prince. :(

Basically junkmmail works like this:
You sign up to a website, like Mumsnet, there's a box saying 'Do not share my info' if you don't tick it then you're email is added to a large list. That list can then be sold to third parties. (I'm not saying MN does this BTW)
So every piece of spam in your folder could very well have been bought from an innocuous site like MN or NM or Amazon or EE or EBay or anywhere else.

FFS, Freda, how can you seriously claim that because somebody has those sort of messages in their email that they've been visiting those type of sites? MN is unreal at times.

OP, I am a woman. I get emails about viagra, how to extend my penis, how "teen nympo Jenny" is gagging to fuck me...you name it.

Report
Joysmum · 02/11/2015 19:40

I get loads for things I've never looked at or been interest in. I don't need viagra, a larger penis or hot girls!

Fintan, I am reliably told by DS's such spam messages usually works by targeting IP addresses that visit such sites. It means that if a device is used with the same IP address as yours, and it could be a phone,iPad or other computer in the house and using the same router the spam latches onto it.

But of course, Fin, I myself could indeed be unreal.

Freda
If that's the case, how do they get the email address?
ISP doesn't detail email address. Visiting a web page, doesn't leave email address behind. Etc

I get awful spam and I know I've been nowhere near cheating or horny housewife sites. Spam should not be confused with browsing history. Freda your ds is wrong

I have never been in touch with hot Russian babes etc but they often write to me.

Agree Freda is wrong. If I wasn't on the app I would screenshot my inbox. Couple of years ago I decided o only wanted emails from real people. So I painstakingly Unsubscribed from every single marketing email in my inbox. Jesus it was the worst decision ever - my unsolicited mail (not caught by junk filter!!) is the worst its e er been and it's nearly all mail order brides and Viagra and blah, and tide which is American washing powder.
I don't look at pure or dating sites or even love honey - I happily hand my iPhone to kids and my clients kids, confident there is no unsafe content whatsoever on it whatever they poke about in! Still I get these daft emails!

Freda, you've been told unreliably I'm afraid. What you've just described is impossible and wrong.

FWIW
It does leave an IP address that is connected with email addresses through cookies, etc. It can also come via incoming spyware on emails and advertising. If OP's DP is getting a lot pf porn spam (which is what OP said) then he is likely looking at porn.

My elderly relative who lives alone uses the internet a lot to keep in touch with family and never gets any porn spam. Likewise myself.

Better still, ask an IT nerd/teenager, and don't shoot the messenger!
