bloody Christmas!

I'm sure I'm not alone but can't wait for Christmas to be over. I can normally cope fairly well midweek with things to do and most weekends but when everything comes to a standstill at Christmas I'm dreading it again! Even the lead up to it, all these couples out shopping, at the markets makes me sad that there's no-one there for me. (Not even family really)

Anyone else feel the same? How are you planning on dealing with it?

Yep, I'm hating it... exH left me and 2 kids earlier this year, and I just split up with the bloke I'd been seeing for a few months, completely out of the blue. Feeling well and truly dumped and miserable Sad

The kids keep me going, and we're spending christmas with my sister which will be a lot of fun, but I'm.nkt looking forward to new year. And yes all the christmassy music, tv etc just makes me melancholy.

Ah avocado yes New year's eve is another thing :( its just bringing it all home whereas normally I know I don't need or really want a man why does this time of the year make you feel different?

This will be the first new year since the DC were born that I can actually go out (ex is having the kids) and I'll most likely be spending it with... other couples and their kids. Which is fine, they're friends and we'll have a laugh, but it will feel a bit miserable, no DC and no partner to kiss at new year. And it's not like I have any single friends to go off out and paint the town red with! Sigh.... unbelievably this year I am looking forward to January.

I know exactly what you mean. Melancholy is a good word to describe it. I remember a stage in my life when I felt felt happy with the way my life was going and Christmas and other similar occasions used to intensify that feeling of gladness and joy. Now it seems to have an opposite effect - it seems to remind me that I don't have that perfect life...

Stay strong. I would say that the majority of people are dealing with all sorts of hardships and sources of sadness at times like these.

Totally agree. It goes on far too long. Even for those of us with lots of good things in our lives.

I agree also. It starts too early and when Xmas Day is Thurs (as it is this year) then the weekend is tagged on as well, making it even longer. Sad
