She has to take the lead. If she just wants a listening ear, that's all you can do. If she wants to leave ornstay with her husband, say you'll support her decision. If she doesn't want to discuss it, stay well back.

If she bad mouths her Dh, don't agree or disagree. People have been known to split up and then get back together. And if you've joined in the bad mouthing, the friendship might not recover.

I found a book called "Too Good to Leave Too Bad to Stay" interesting.

I think at this point you're trying too hard though. (from the right place!)
