Found Pof on dh iPhone history. Has form for visiting porn sites such as xhamster knowing full well my disgust at this. Swears it won't happen again etc. He swears blind he hasn't been on there. Can it magically appear by itself? Although I know it can't confused can anyone reassure me. Thanks

IsabeauMichelle Sun 23-Nov-14 12:49:32

Can't reassure you because he has to have visited it for it to be in his history!

What are you going to do?

VanitasVanitatum Sun 23-Nov-14 12:51:11

Cannot think how it could get there without him visiting it.. Unless he accidentally clicked on an ad?

NaiceNickname Sun 23-Nov-14 12:51:24

You know the answer. Do websites you haven't visited magically appear in your history? hmm

What's your next move?

DixieTreats Sun 23-Nov-14 12:54:15

Afraid the only way that would show up is if it's been visited. There's a small buthighlyunlikely chance it could be someone else on his phone?

3lovelykids Sun 23-Nov-14 12:55:52

No nothing appears on mine. Married 23 years and it's not the first time. I know deep down things don't just appear and surely if he clicked on a pop up he would know! Thank you for your replies I feel like I'm going mad. He says he will change his phone as it's due for upgrade then it will be ok! Ffs I've checked his phone twice in 5 months since I found the porn and both times have found dodgy stuff . How am I supposed to move on ???

AliceinWinterWonderland Sun 23-Nov-14 12:56:03

Is there any way to see when it's been accessed?

IsabeauMichelle Sun 23-Nov-14 12:58:23

Tell him he's a cheating wanker. What did you find the other time?

There is a world of difference between porn sites and actively looking on dating sites, imo.

AttilaTheMeerkat Sun 23-Nov-14 13:01:31

You move on by asking him to move out. Tolerating this at all has led to him continuing with these behaviours and now he has POF on his IPhone history. He is peeing on any boundary you care to set him and enough is more than enough now. He is basically seeing you as a mug. These apps do not just appear by accident but by design.

AttilaTheMeerkat Sun 23-Nov-14 13:02:50

Your children as well likely wonder why on earth you and he are together at all now given that they also see and hear far more at home than you perhaps realise as well.

I've looked at plenty of fish out of curiosity as it gets mentioned quite a bit in conversation and in the media but if my partner asked about it coming up in my internet history, I wouldn't deny having looked at it. He's lying.

3lovelykids Sun 23-Nov-14 13:06:43

Thank you for all your replies. The first time I looked I found a porn site not xhamster this time which is fucking disgusting . Yet again it wasn't him. Said exactly the same this time. It's a huge decision to end a marriage but it's not looking good.

BitterAndOnlySlightlyTwisted Sun 23-Nov-14 13:21:53

He's a liar and he's taking you for a fool.

It might be a huge decision to end a marriage but so is going on a dating site when you're not single. If you don't kick him to the kerb now you're in danger of sanctioning even worse behaviour. If that's possible.

What an arsehole!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine Sun 23-Nov-14 13:25:56

It might not be him (but unlikely) eg a week or so ago various mumsnetters were on Mumsnet and be redirected to porn sites - this was not of their doing, and would have shown up in their histories.

Also, if your DH knows you check his phone, surely he'd have enough sense to delete his history?

3lovelykids Sun 23-Nov-14 13:28:22

The amount of memory used was 0.4 kb so don't know if he logged in. He's not likely to admit to it. I entered the web address into my phone and it was only 0.2 kb. Very weird sad

Fontella Sun 23-Nov-14 14:01:55

To be honest, I'm always totally skeptical when I read these posts how people inadvertently end up on porn/escort websites, but then yesterday this happened to me ... twice!

I bought a gorgeous leather bag in a charity shop for 30 quid. It's by an Italian designer I've never heard of, and when I got home I googled his name - couldn't find any info at all - no website (other than there appears to be an Italian runner/athlete with the same name) just a couple of other bags (nowhere near as nice as mine) on ebay and etsy. To tell the truth, I was trying to find out what the bag might be worth as it really is a cracker. grin

I clicked on one link purporting to have info about this designer ... and it was loads of various thumbnail pics of women all in various stages of undress - there were dozens of them and although I didn't hang about - I'm assuming it was a live webcam or escort type site? A little later on I found myself back on it again - not the same link but another one - again I didn't hang about, as soon as I landed on it and saw what it was I shut the window.

But it will be there in my internet history presumably?

Joysmum Sun 23-Nov-14 14:27:21

I'm no expert but that's not a lit of memory?

Perhaps somebody more knowledgable could comment on that

26Point2Miles Sun 23-Nov-14 14:30:51

Randomly check again in 6 weeks or so. If you find stuff then it will be 3 times. Statistics speak for themself

RedRoom Sun 23-Nov-14 14:32:50

I'd say it depends a lot whether the site appears in his history once - that would reflect an accidental click through that went no further- or whether there are a number of hits, with slightly different times / different url ends, that suggest actual browsing.

3lovelykids Sun 23-Nov-14 14:35:41

I found it in settings, safari advanced data so it only shows the web address and kb. It's not good is it hmm

IsabeauMichelle Sun 23-Nov-14 14:42:13

But to have to look so thoroughly, regularly, like you are? Is it worth it?

Windywinston Sun 23-Nov-14 16:16:28

The website data also included pop ups, it's not the same as the history. If he's looking at porn sites all sorts of things will pop up, which then get logged in the website data. I'm not saying he hasn't been on it, but there is a possibility he hasn't. You're still left with the problem that he's looking at porn that disgusts you though.

Only1scoop Sun 23-Nov-14 16:20:52

Not trying to excuse him but I believe that is a minuscule amount of data unless he deletes stuff.

3lovelykids Sun 23-Nov-14 17:58:31

Thanks for all of your replies. He's ordered a new phone so the problem should never happen again -yeh right- should it! sad
