This may sound trivial, but I don't think it is. Music can make a big difference to our mood.
There's so many victim songs in our culture "What can I do to make you love me?" Kind of thing. But what about the strong, I can do this songs?

I'll start: "I'm still standing" Elton John - bernie taupin knew what he was writing about.

Micheal Bolton - How can we be lovers, if we cant be friends.

and my favourite.

Frankie - F**k you right back

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.....Let Your Loss Be Your Lesson. I had that on repeat for about a month when ExH was begging me to change my mind, he'd change, stop drinking, etc etc.....Too little too late!!

Sugababes....Stronger. It was my anthem during a very turbulent time and its still a powerful song now...

About this time last year there was a thread on here about this exact topic. Someone recommended Move in the Right Direction by The Gossip. Thank you to that person! It did an amazing amount for me. Though now I find it almost too painful to listen to as it reminds of a time when I was so, so low.

Robbie Williams "Feel" - has agitated me out of denial that I love my husband....and even though I try to go thru the fake motions - really I cant live in a desert...."there is a hole in my soul - you can see it in my face,,"

The Avalanches

Watch the steps
Get a drink, have a good time, now
Welcome to paradise

Since I left you
I found the world so new
Since I left you
I found the world so new
I found the world so new

Since I left you
I found the world so new
Since I left you
I found the world so new

Watch the video to the end and you'll see the 2nd reason why they are uplifting.

scatteroflight - I think that was my thread, music is so important to me and I needed to rethink what I was able to listen to. I had hundreds of suggestions and was grateful for every one of them.

Boop suggested The Gossip and it became my anthem. I too can't listen to it anymore though.

My current favourite is Sigma and Paloma Faith, Everything is Changing

Oh and Oliver Dollar, Pushing On - great video too. Pushing On, because it's the only option smile

Thankyou scatter that was me. I was listening to that song a lot last year and again recently. Its helped me a lot in the last year.

I also recommend Keeping the Dream Alive by Freiheit.

Darkesteyes Sun 12-Oct-14 16:45:17

Sounds like a couple of us suggested it. thanks

Nomama Sun 12-Oct-14 16:45:17

Mmm! Sharon's choices are really interesting, to say the least. I haven't heard much Zappa for years... really empowering choices!
