Using coconut oil as a hair treatment? Method?

I've totally neglected my hair lately. I'm going to get a trim this week. I've also bought Philip Kingsley Elasticizer to try as a pre-shampoo. We have coconut oil here, how do I use this as a treatment? Do I apply to dry hair or wet? How much should I use? Is it easy to shampoo out? How often should I use it?

Thank you!

Think you might have posted in the wrong topic unless you are trying to make up with your hair after do much neglect

LTB

scornedwoman67 Sat 22-Mar-14 19:50:21

I agree. The coconut oil is being utterly unreasonable grin

letsgotostonehenge Sat 22-Mar-14 19:51:59

coconut oil is inherently unreasonable and also prone to fits of uncontrollable temper, definitely LTB

Worst case of EA I've ever heard of first LTB!

if you've got that many doubts/questions at this stage I'd stay single. Once you start with this kind of stuff it's hard to get out of - that way addiction lies. Sorry but ...

Neglect is a kind of abuse. You should both be nurturing each other.

I feel so sorry for your hair sad

HairAid is there for hair night and day.

Dirtybadger Sat 22-Mar-14 20:56:31

Sounds like you and your hair aren't compatible. Shave it off whilst you can. Contact the Police if it tries to win you back.

Toohardtofindaproperusername Sat 22-Mar-14 20:57:18

But loggie it's gone beyond that now with Philip involved. Makes it all way too complicated.

EdithWeston Sat 22-Mar-14 20:59:00

What you do with lubricants in the privacy of your own home is totally up to you, OP.

(BTW: there's a book on myriad uses of coconut oil on Kindle countdown deals to the mo).

waltermittymissus Sat 22-Mar-14 20:59:58

So you've neglected your hair, by your own admission and now you're blatantly flaunting your relationship with Philip in her face?

I hope your hair grows (wink) to realise that this treatment is not ok.

It's too little, too late OP. sad

waltermittymissus Sat 22-Mar-14 21:00:53

Can't believe some people are blaming the hair!

MN double standards at it's finest!

SoleSource Sat 22-Mar-14 21:13:27

Hair has always been there for you
Yet you treat it like poo
Now you think coconut oil
Will stop the spoil
Think again my dear
The message is clear
You're affair with Phillip must cease
Hair is forever, not short term lease
And this is the most crappy, unfunny poem ever

sotiredfornow Sat 22-Mar-14 21:14:56

Hahahaha!! You guys are hilarious. I've never done that before. Too funny!

How do I get the thread moved? Anyone know?

waltermittymissus Sat 22-Mar-14 21:16:00

Report your OP and ask them to move it!

but don't because this is way more entertaining

grin

Your hair neglect is funny? Poor Mr. Hair. sad
someone drag me awayyy

BOFtastic Sat 22-Mar-14 21:17:29

It sounds to me like your hair has been with you through thick and thin, but you have neglected and abused it, leaving it impoverished and desperate for attention. Frankly, I'm not surprised that it's in need of lubrication.

sotiredfornow Sat 22-Mar-14 21:18:11

Oh god I am still laughing, I can't stop. DP is wondering what the hell is up!

sotiredfornow Sat 22-Mar-14 21:19:00

Waltermitty - I'm reluctant too. Best laugh I've had all month.

waltermittymissus Sat 22-Mar-14 21:23:50

Frankly, I'm not surpised that it's in need of lubrication.

Roar!

waltermittymissus Sat 22-Mar-14 21:25:08

That's true, BOF and to be fair, one special treatment after all that neglect is not going to fix anything.

This is a deeply rooted problem. There are no grey areas with this. There's layers of emotion and hurt and you're just on the fringe of getting things back on track...

Ok, ok, I'll stop.

BOFtastic Sat 22-Mar-14 21:26:19

grin

I love this thread.

TheCrackFox Sat 22-Mar-14 21:26:24

My hair seemingly hates me (total bastard) so I can completely understand your nightmare situation.
