We don't do presents, not really romantic stuff either. But I'm a bit pissed off that my card is a short virtually no verse card, whilst I put some effort into choosing a nice multi verse card.
I'm being a cow aren't I?

Not being a cow necessarily but it doesn't seem like a big deal, at least you got a card and you both remembered.

Have you a nice meal or something planned for later?

Focus on the positive and celebrate ten years together, that's quite an achievement.

We are going out later on our own grandparents watching little ones. That's an achievement in itself! I'll buck myself up and have a nice day.

Number of verses in the card? Really? This bothers you?

You're not being a cow but it is a bit of a random thing to get het up about!

I think bucking up sounds like a jolly good plan Wink

Have a lovely day and enjoy your child-free time. (Fwiw I hate cards with verses in so it's a personal thing.)

Ummm.

You think the card you chose from Clintons is more meaningful than the card he chose from Clintons? You think the card he chose shows he isn't thoughtful?

C'mon!! That's crazy.

Is there something else going on here?!

It's just a difference in taste in cards though, isn't it? I always put effort into finding (what I think is) a cool, fairly minimalist card - DH gives me a big verse-filled Hallmark number. I don't like the style of the card he hives me but I appreciate the sentiment behind it, and hopefully he feels the same! I'd hate to think I'd offended him with my lack of effusive verse. (Am worried now...)

Congratulations on reaching the ten year mark and have a lovely romantic night out. It's definitely something to celebrate.

Surely a handwritten verse is better... I usually get a little speech about how far we've come, blah blah. A bit cheesy but at least it's his words not someone elses.

Have fun. And Happy Anniversary! Congrats x

Verse cards are naff and pointless. If you know he loves you, you don't need to read someone else's words to reinforce it.

Yes you are all right and normally exactly what I think. Don't know what's got into me today. I'll go and find a grip and sort myself out. Thankyou!

I never buy cards for my wife with a 'verse'. I spend a long time choosing one that looks just right or has the perfect (but to the point) message but the verses are always horrible, cheesy and never say exactly what I feel.

Your card may not be all you wanted but I'm sure he put more thought into it than you'd think.

pixiegumboot · 13/02/2014 11:12

Yes I'm sure that's the case. I am very lucky he is lovely!

Verses?
Nothing says "after 10 years I can't even be asked to tell you want I think so I'm leaving it all to Hallmark" than a multi verse Hallmark card!
I'd be cross with one!

I never buy cards with verses in. To be honest I find most verses a bit boak so I buy blank cards so I can write something which is more fitting.

I think you're over thinking things. Nothing to get in a pickle over.

Congratulations on your anniversary Smile

I don't like cards with verses too. I'd rather write my feelings on the card.

What matters is whether it has been a good marriage or not.

ExH used to get nice looking cards, with soppy printed messages. He was a twat, though, and his actions rarely supported the messages on the cards.

I think it's worrying when people in a relationship feel like they need to prove how much they love each other by the card and gifts they get/receive.

DH and I don't need a special day. Everyday we hug and kiss and tell each other how in love and lucky we are. There would be something very wrong if we gauged the feelings of the other by the card/gift they give

:o

That has got to be the silliest complaint I have ever read on Relationships.

I hate cards with verses inside them.

Although I would be VERY impressed with a card containing the multiverse.

Enjoy your meal :)

I would be most impressed with a card containing the universe personally. You are a lucky woman! Have a nice evening Smile

This is top end of loony. Sorry.

My ex dw and I went on a fabulous once in a lifetime holiday to the middle east for our 10th wedding anniversary. Within 6 months she had ended the marriage.

Make the most of the card and stop moaning.

I've already resolved the issue thankyou as you can read on the thread. This is not AIBU, so those of you who felt the need to be rude for the sake of it fuck off. In the nicest way possible.

Yabu, verse cards are shit.

They're not your words you know. They are printed, catch all bullshit. Like horoscopes.

I'd rather a simple card and something brief but heartfelt.
