Stringfellows lapdance - what happens?

My DH and I are good friends with my friend and her DH. Our DHs are going on a 'stag do' for another of their friends and this guy is a 'regular' at Stringfellows in Covent Garden, and he wants to take all the DHs there.

I am against strip clubs and do not want my DH to go, so is my friend and does not want her DH to go. My DH is saying he wants to go to be with the other men but will not get a lapdance and that he thinks it's all a bit cheesy/weird. My friend's DH is telling her things like "the dances are not naked" and they "don't even touch you/come near you, just dance in front of you."

Has anyone had the non privilege of seeing one of these dances? Are they actually erotic?

They will have a dance I am sure because all the other guys will be pressuring them. Thats even if your husband/friends husband do believe what they have told you and your friend, which i doubt.

Yes, a lot of strip clubs make you put your arms behind your back and you cannot touch. However, I am sure this rule is bent! Of course it is actually erotic to men. Probably not to us women! So they might get a boner for a bit then they will come out have a drink and a laugh and it'll be done.

If you feel so against it though, your husband should be listening to you. I used to be very against it until one day i just went in to a strip club with my bf and his mates. It was not classy, girls were trampy, the guys couldnt give a crap really and the drinks were expensive.
I was mistaken for a stripper (thanks mate) and my bf spent all his time talking to a stripper. We fell out that night!
One of my bf's colleagues had been sitting with a stripper and she let him rub his hands all up and down her legs.
I told his girlfriend. They fell out too!

Now i actually wouldnt care if my partner went. It really isnt a big deal.

It's just a lot of people celebrating the culture of Lapland. Furry boots, big beards, aggressive dancing to beat the cold and lots of potato vodka.

Nothing to worry about.

Odd choice for a stag do. Did they mean reindeer?

It's a strip club. You will not be able to know what he does there unless you go with him.

Personally, I wouldn't want a partner who wanted to go in any kind of strip club but I'm guessing you are maybe not against the clubs as such, but against your dh engaging in or seeing particular kinds of things whilst in them? If that's what it is then it's a trust issue you have isn't it really? You don't trust him to respect your boundaries perhaps?

The dances are non erotic. but you can take it elsewhere if you have the money.

I had to go to one once (not string fellows) for work (don't ask!)

You pick a girl. They dance either in front of everyone or you can pay extra and they dance privately for you. No touching but they do get very very close

It's all over in 5 mins thank god unless you pay again... Hmm

It has been a while since my last experience but they were pretty strict on touch rules ,Stringfellows. Any legal battles would devastate them.

i went to stringfellows about 7 years ago. you pick a girl and they dance for you - no touching. or you can go further and pay for them by the hour, during which time they sit on your knee and generally fawn all over in a rather fake way. not sure about private dances though.

YoBitch · 05/02/2014 00:28

oh and I didn't find it erotic - I thought it was all just bizarre. but I do think my male colleagues loved it (sorry)

My partner has made his excuses and not gone on stag dos like this. It's not compulsory.

Don't know but I'de be saying adios and hitting on another bloke! revenge Grin. Strip clubs are immoral places and I wouldn't permit any of this Angry

Most guys don't find the places erotic. On stag dos, the obligatory visit to the lap dancing club is mostly about humiliating the stag (who is generally happy for this to happen). I have never seen any touching in a lap dancing club, although I have heard of it happening when others have been having a 'private dance' although I am not convinced.

My dh came home on work do when they went to strip club. It is not necessary if you feel strongly about it and he respected my wishes (and wasnt that keen anyway I don't think). I don't want my dh getting a hard on from having another women gyrating in front of him but that is just me.

But then I also have concerns about the sex trade and treatment of women but expect Stringfellows probably treats its women ok and they are all choosing to be there so it may be a better option than some other clubs?

Tell him that when he's there you and your mate have hired a couple of male dancers.
Tell them there's nothing in it, just a laugh but you will just be admiring their perfect bodies and gawping at their huge penis's through their tight pants and generally getting turned on my other guys! This friends wife will do the same and you will each have an image of the other fawning over these guys. If one of you chooses to, you could pay extra and disappear with one if them for a good grope and gyrate too.

See what they think if that!

I went to Stringfellows several years ago on a stag bash and the place bored me to tears. Generally lots of fat men of a middle east persuasion buying expensive drinks and ‘company’. There is a stage in the middle where every so often one of the girls would do a ‘erotic’ dance. The girls were not naked but the tiny g-strings they wore and being shaved to within an inch of their lives did not leave much for the imagination. Basically punters will be asked by an array of women if they want some company, generally if you say yes that means you are obliged to buy them a rather expensive drink while they fake interest in you and tell you with a straight face that your job as tiddlywink consultant is the most amazing job in the world and only strong attractive alpha type men get to do important things like that. They might ask you for a ‘dance’, and again, if you say yes you will led to a private booth in the corner whereby an 8ft bouncer who looked like he was a recent inmate at Broadmoor will explain the rules which largely consist of veiled threats of extreme violence and ejection from the premises if you touch the girl while she wiggles her bum or boobs in your face for the two minutes of time that the £50 bought you.

Of course if you say no to any of the above as I did they soon disappear fairly quickly to tap up men they can make actually make money from leaving you and most of the other awkward looking attached men to sip on a few expensive beers in the corner before you slope off to the pub nextdoor.

From what I have heard Stringfellows is one of the more ‘clean’ clubs by which I mean the girls don’t offer ‘extras’, they just fleece gullible and sad men for lots of money.

I went to one of these once, not Stringfellows, so I think the policy varies according to club in terms of how far they go. It is not necessarily some gateway drug to seeing a prostitute. You could argue it is not much worse than some burlesque show, though you may have views about that.

Erotic? Well... more an experience than anything. It is synthetic eroticism, so not great imo. It can mess up a bloke's mojo, as everything is the opposite to what it should be. In real life, stare at a woman's cleavage and you will get in trouble, fair enough. But if you don't stare in a strip club, you are wasting your time and theirs, it might even seem a bit rude, as if to say, well, you're not much to look at, eh? So everything gets turned around a bit.

The very fact that is actually not erotic having a woman flash her bits for you in this context can create problems too, like, if you can't get turned on my that (and you may not, as they don't give off any phermones undertandably, and you know it's all for their job, not real) then Lord help you.

There was a funny episode of Not Going Out that ends up in a strip club, worth catching.

named brand places are more clean cut than other back street type places

I would not be happy going to either type of place when in a relationship or even going generally

Awwww your poor hubby wants to be wiv the other men

Shame one cant be a wolf and not a sheep and say - lets hire a pool hall and have beer and pizza...why does it have to be about breasts

I think you're being fantastic in trying to find out more rather than just saying no. He's lucky to have you, and I hope he supports whatever decision you make, whether he agrees with it or not.

I loathe this type of "entertainment"

But Stringfellows is definitely at the vanilla and no-touching-rule-is-actually-enforced end of the spectrum.

But will that be the only place they go to?

Stringfellows is a very straight up club, if he is going to go then this is likely to be the most vanilla in London.

They won't even take on girls that are too tattooed, they consider themselves too upmarket for that. Any sight of bad behaviour the girl gets fired. I know someone who was fired from there.
