The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Driving Through The Autumn Scenes, Searching For Our Sober Dreams.

Hello, I'm Mouse smile Welcome to the Bus, (aka Gerald grin ).

I'm one of the Brave Babes on board this fabulous Bus of travellers, all in search of their sobriety in one form or another.

We have those who drink in moderation, those who have a set pattern of days on and off the booze, and we have posters who have been sober for minutes, hours, days, weeks, months or years.

There are two lines that the Bus has painted down the side, one on each -

The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement and Alcohol Fosters Inertia

So, if you think you're drinking too much or you're worried about another person, then come find a seat.

We get through our days chatting about all sorts of things, life is, after all, full of plenty of things to fuel our desire to drink, and we're all very different people grin

However, our common goal is sobriety. smile

Sad and LePample Huge well done for posting. You'll get great advice and support here. We all know how you are feeling. We have just about filled this thread and are all now jumping on the Bus on this link (hope that works!?) Otherwise, scroll up, find Mouse's post and there are blue words that say 'here' something. Click that link.

Hi Rural don't be too angry with yourself - use your anger to strengthen your resolve for today.

Thanks for the Lemsip Green, much appreciated. Feeling quite low today with it. Need to be well to fight back. xxx

beachestoexplore Thu 24-Oct-13 12:54:48

beachestoexplore Thu 24-Oct-13 12:46:22

Then you have come to the right place sad We all understand the struggle and the shame attached. So welcome and jump on the next bus as this one comes to an end at 1000 posts. See you there!

Hi to all, so many posts, I wants to send hugs to those with relationship worries, cheers to those who are discovering some strength within, support for those feeling fragile and agreement with some of the great insights. Sorry not to be more specific but am at a loss to single everyone out. I am there at the sidelines though!

I have been mostly af (creative accounting alert) 32 days out of 37. I am feeling much more in control mentally but am far from complacent. The difference in the quality of sleep is amazing, I actually feel like I am getting some REM, not just comatose/ anxious pattern that I got with relentless drinking.

Today will be a NO DRINKING day.

Soc I am also thinking of you, hope to see you soon. X

obrigada Thu 24-Oct-13 12:32:55

Sadnworried and LePamplemousse I have asked for someone to link you both to the new thread. Don't want your posts to go unanswered. Hopefully someone will be along soon to do this.

LePamplemousse Thu 24-Oct-13 12:27:04

*it seriously affects

LePamplemousse Thu 24-Oct-13 12:26:34

I mean, I already do drink too much, but I don't want to get to the point where is seriously affect my health, which it could do if I carry on at this rate.

LePamplemousse Thu 24-Oct-13 12:26:02

Family history of alcoholism... grandparents, parents etc ALL drink too much... I don't want to end up the same. I've drank almost a bottle of wine a night for about four years with the odd night off or the occasional night with only two glasses, then I go back to drinking a bottle again. I can't keep my drinking within reasonable, controllable levels, so I need to stop.
I'm determined that today will be my first day sober....

Sadnworried Thu 24-Oct-13 12:16:00

I've namechanged for this, because I am ashamed of myself.
I drink too much. That is all.

ruralreynard Thu 24-Oct-13 11:48:51

mouse thinking of you and your ishooo. If I can be of any help let me know. You are always there for me amazing babe. smile
Have an inkling of your ishooo xx
Day 1 again here, nothing to heavy last night but caved to the WW and angry with myself.

typhoontanya Thu 24-Oct-13 11:05:52

Morning babes, just checking in.

Greensbackonthebus Thu 24-Oct-13 10:04:23

ma good luck today!

Greensbackonthebus Thu 24-Oct-13 09:58:09

purple sorry you are feeling like crap, here have a lemsip.

Didn't make day 1 yesterday so try again today. Bit sad today, think we may have passed the 'fulcrum' point and are now just on the downward slide. We don't row just rub along but I don't thinks it's just me who's heart is weary. How to get back on track?

I'm so scared to talk in case he leaves. I don't want that but not sure I want to make the effort either so we'll just keep rubbing along I guess... Wonder if one can do this their whole married lives, expect some couples do.

My advice - talk to each other before the moment has gone. Sorry not to nc have a good day all x

PurpleWolfe Thu 24-Oct-13 06:59:04

Morning all. Feeling really rough here this morning. sad Not a hang-over, mind, but some dreaded lurgy. Achy, sneezy, skin hurts, cold hurts, glass in throat etc. Was so bad yesterday evening that DD sent me off to my bed and made herself and the boys dinner (well, ham sandwiches but that was what they all wanted and was fab of her). So, she can be an angel when she wants. smile All my children are really tired as they get to the end of the first half term, especially DS2 who started middle school in Sept. It's added over an hour a day to his school day (bus and stuff) and he's exhaused, poor bugger.

Anyway, wanted to ask, Isinde, how are things this morning Lovely? It's difficult living with un-spoken issues. Hope DT's let you have a good sleep and no early morning nappy 'presents'! x

Mouse Sorry to hear about your ishoooo's. Small villages can be a bit weird sometimes. I hope you get it all sorted but - don't forget - you must look after you first. And, don't worry about us or apologise, we're big girls here and you selflessly give so much of yourself already. Thank you for setting up the new thread. Hugs, furry Mouse.

Kat Sounds bloody awful - especially as it's come at a really crucial time for you. Is there anyone you trust that could sit with you - before and after, it sounds like you could do with some support. Well done on getting stuff sorted in your home - and I fully understand the 'stay in bed all day' thing. Fingers crossed that it goes OK for you.

Lastly, Ma don't forget to dip DH's toothbrush in the loo this morning!! Oh, and don't kiss him after! Lol!! grin Hope you are OK and today goes as well as can be expected, too. x

Tortoiseonthehalfshell Thu 24-Oct-13 05:51:55

Sharp, I'm sorry to hear that. I'll leave this on this thread in case you don't want to discuss it further, but it sounds like you've pretty much been through hell.

Mouseface Wed 23-Oct-13 23:19:09

{{{{{Hugs Kat}}}} We're here for you xxx

Please fill this one up first so that we don't lose anyone or leave them behind.

Thank you smile

Night all, Mouse xxx

Advance warning. I am going to need the BBs on Friday. The London Ambulance Service are coming out to see me to check some details re a complaint I made re a paramedic sexually assaulting me in June.

My memory is hazy now because of the alcohol but I know what I reported was true.

I am scared and upset. This news has knocked me for six.

I am going to be strong for all of you and know you are all holding my hands.

Feel better for getting that out.

Sorry everyone. I do not want to take over the thread.

I think you are all amazing and you have picked me up when I have hit rock bottom.

Thank you xx

Mouseface Wed 23-Oct-13 22:40:39

Evening, tis me, Mouse

Ma - sorry, I meant to email you and haven't had the chance yet, I will as I said, I don't want to go into the ins and outs of what's going on in my RL on here just now, too many Bridge Dwellers looking for trouble me (not being big headed, I promise) and I have too much on to get caught up in it just now.

Thank you for asking after me for days, I'm sorry not to respectfully reply properly to you sweetheart. I'm sorry you've had a shit day, I did wonder if you'd be involved in the story on the news sweets, I'm sorry that your DH is a DogTosser of the highest calibre, he has never been anything but that in my eyes to you, the way he treats you and the DDs.

Not DS............. Twat.

Sorry blush

I have had enough of bullies and in particular, men who think that little wifey should go home and darn her husband's socks....... Fuck. Off.

Anyway - Flumps - YOU ROCK!!! Well done. I wonder how many people read your post and think 'why has she thrown a lovely wrap (shawl etc) away down the loo'? Those who have never had an addiction or 'habit' (and I don't any belittling by that but even I thought why's she thrown her wrap out?) get's the enormity of what you have done you Brave Babe smile xxx

Sorry not to NC everyone and for being a crap Brave Babe of late and not supporting anyone!

Purps - you are lovely for texting me! smile I'm okay, I will explain all but not out in the open as such. It's nothing to do with drink or anything like that, Nemo is fine, DH and DD are too, it's a community/village ishooooooooooooo that I've gotten myself involved in because I live here and want my children and those of my neighbours to be safe..... hmm apparently, that is a baaaaaaaaaaaaad thing to want. hmm

I'm sorry for not catching up properly - Sharpkat - you've been through the bloody mill sweets! I'm glad to see that things are kind of turning around for you xxx

IsinDe - I hope you are okay? xxx

Scary - you so know the way to this Mouse's heart! Thank you for the cheese xxx

Right, I'm off to set up the new thread for you naughty lot to post on before this one is full!

Thurso - lovely lady, I am so sorry that I have missed your posts of late, like passing ships!! We must catch up properly and I could do with you thoughts on what I've gotten myself into of late! I hope that you are okay lovely.

ALL OTHER BABES - sorry for not being here to offer support and a wee pair of ears for listening. And bacon sarnies, and brews etc.....

The new thread will be fully equipped with log burner, fleecy throws, fluffy pillows, warm homemade hearty soup, snuggly socks and giant cardies for keeping us all warm on the Battle Bus.

See you all again in a mo with the link smile xxx

I love the phrase wankbadger. Its my new favourite.
Sec of state's pa has now changed time of meeting to 4pm so I have 30 furious businesses to reconvene at new time, plus it means I can't pick mum up at hospital as planned so that's all to fuckbuggery as well.
Have had two glasses of wine and am going to bed. Can't even be arsed getting pissed.
