And filed my divorce paperwork with the court. We have been separated four years, were married just under four. I was fed up of waiting for him to pay so I borrowed from my credit card.

Its first step but feels massive. Feel like I should have a mini party or something.

Will raise a Wine with you.

Is there anyone in real life you can turn to for support and celebration?

I have loads who are ready to break open the bubbles as soon as its all gone through, but I admit I wasn't expecting to feel anything at the submittal of the paperwork! So not really said anything. Feels weird to know its all happening and that in 6-12 weeks it could be done.

I'm about to do the same smokin. Twunt is on a 6 figure salary while I'm on 27k. Will be worth it to be rid of him!

Smokin

Hurrah for you! I did exactly the same thing today. Has also been a long time coming for me ( 4 years in Oct) .

I suspect there may be obstacles and disagreements along the way involving the house and finances but it felt wonderful having finally got things moving and knowing that I have at least done all I can do for now.

Hope things progress smoothly for you Grin

Cheers Wine

I put very minimal info in - basically saying he left unexpectedly 4 years ago, never returned and Ive lived as a single parent ever since.

However, he's has another child since so the clerk did say the judge may not allow our reasoning and want something else instead in light of the new child. Even though they werent together until we had been separated a year, its the whole legal side.

He signed the child arrangement paperwork though. Which is something.

He was meant to pay for it, and then ran out of money. I have no chance in the next few years and even though I'm single I'm fed up of ticking that married box or separated box instead of divorced. and I'm keeping my married name but want to be Ms not Mrs.

So hopefully its all smooth. Good luck oldfatandtired too :-)

Yeay Seth to you too!!

we have separate finances and houses thankfully. so I'm hoping its easy going. we are amicable and I'd hate for the divorce to stop that.

Heres to us both starting 2014 as proper single women :-)

sorting out house move and finances. At the weekend he got the acknowledgment of service from the court, and I was surprised how excited I was! Moreso than paperwork going in (maybe because solicitor did that so I didn't see it?) I didn't expect to feel excited until the nisi!

It's such a bloody faff though - no wonder they charge so much. I don't see why they have to do the acknowledgment, then I have to do an affidavit that what I've already submitted is true, as is his acknowledge... wish where it was amicable there was the option to have your ex do the acknowledgment questions via solicitor and just stick the whole lot in together!

Anyway... Here's to more bubbly!!!
