You in in settings you can access all past web data in safari tab even if they've deleted it from internet history?

Well - what happens if they get a new iphone but keep the same iaccount or whatever, does the old website data transfer across onto the new phone?

Probably - the default option is to copy Safari browsing data, I think - mine always says it's copying this when I sync it to iTunes.

You've posted this in Relationships rather than Geeky Stuff - I'm assuming therefore this isn't a question about your own iPhone.

Are you worried that you're going to be spied on or are you the one planning to do the spying?

no it's my partners. I caught him looking at sleezy websites last year ( etc, lovely hmm) and we worked it out and he promised never to do it again but now he has this new iphone 5 and after an argument last night I decided to search his phone history and all those sites are there again - but could they just be from before? there is no way of checking the dates accessed

If you don't trust your partner, tell him to go. No relationship can be built on mistrust - it's a horrible way to live. Don't demean yourself snooping through his phone. You have to prove NOTHING. He is the one that has to actively demonstrate he can be trusted.

Well, to be fair, he might not have done anything further. And trust takes a while to re-build.

Open safari
At the bottom are five symbols.
Choose the one that looks like an open book
Choose history
Gives a list of dates
Chose the date you want

Or at least that's how it works on my iPhone 5....

Mine hasn't copied across to my new iPhone.

But then I don't have safari data ticked in sync options.

You need to talk to him, not spy on him. You'll never know anyway, because you can do private browsing that doesn't leave a trace on iPhones now.

My text messages didn't copy over from my iPhone 3GS to my iPhone 4S so I doubt the browsing history would have.

He's lying, and I think you know that thanks

In web data it collects all pop ups, even if they don't open. On my phone I have pop ups blocked and all sorts of things come up in my web data, sites I haven't been on. If he's looking at porn on his phone, it might be that these pop ups are coming up so doesn't mean he's looking at them. However, if you know for sure he's looked at them before, it might be that he has. I'm just saying that it might not be as it seems! Hope this helps xx

I don't think the default is to copy over history. Mine didn't. If he didn't want his history copied (and why would he want that copied over) then he wouldn't have it set to that. I'm afraid my gut would think the worst but if you can look again try what Distrustinggirl said about the dates.

Localslags. Delightful hmm

How does any relationship come back from a bloke actively seeking out opportunities to be unfaithful?

Just one of the many imponderables on MN....

The only thing that carries any certainty is that there will be a next time.
