Relationships

OK Cupid - What does friend, activity partner and short term relationship actually mean? What comes your way if you state you're up for any of these?

Just that really. I'm new to OD and can work out what looking for a long term relationship or casual sex mean Grin, but wondering about the other possibilities. What do those of you who use this site state you're looking for in this section?

Unless okc has changed recently, you can't actually untick the 'friend' box. I think I put 'long term dating' and 'short term dating' as well. I don't think it really matters (but I steered clear of activity partners as it sounded a bit creepy in the context, and I wouldn't put casual sex unless I really meant it).

Friend - friend
Activity partner - someone to do activities with, sports etc
Short term dating - casual dating/flings/sex

tbh, I think it can be taken at face value - there are 'communities' and such on okc, and a tick-box for casual sex. However, it sounds creepy.

Also, I meant to say wrt 'friends': I used okc for about 3 months (a couple of years ago), until I met my partner at an okc-related meeting thingy. I am still in touch with 4 of the other chaps I met on the site.

Imagine you met them in the pub - some people might become your friends, you might want to shag some, you might want to have a relationship with some. Good luck!

well if you tick casual sex you will not be short of introductory messages suggesting just that.

If you don't tick casual sex you will still not be short of introductory messages suggesting just that on the off-chance, just maybe not quite as many.

Other than that you are as well to tick the lot as short term dating, friend and activity partners can result in more once you get to know each other. People have their own reasons why they tick friends, activity partners or short term dating rather than long term dating that don't always mean they are averse to LTD.
