Are you able to 'spread the load' and see family members? We had to relocate for work away ftom family and other people always seem to pack loads into a Bank Holiday weekend, not the done thing to bother friends when they have their own families to see.

Anyway are you able to get outdoors at least, so you won't get 'cabin fever'?

Don't know how old your children are but when mine were still at primary we bought a cheap little tent for our back garden. Not Bear Grylls type truly outdoors quality but an old blanket and a few snacks and that kept them occupied. Same old garden same toys but in their little den and somehow a step up from a wendy house.

Hope you are okay - is it that your DH isn't able to take the initiate and do stuff together or does he share your dislike of a break in routine?

Can you say what it is about the Bank Hols you don't like?
