New thread time! Great timing with it being new years day...

Most of you know what to do... off you go!

Just in case you don't... just chit chat all your dating related stuff here. If you are new, just jump right in to the blethering. More the merrier!

Fingers crossed Lubey

So is everyone primed and ready for 8.52 pm?

VelvetSpoon Wed 02-Jan-13 08:54:49

Wet fish required please.

We were messaging til late last night. All seemed to be going well.

I sent him a msg this morning - no response. But I know he's seen it. He normally replies straight away.

lubeybooby Wed 02-Jan-13 08:58:31

I'm not. I still officially hate OD

But... I might join just for a day for the prime 'traffic' and see what happens. Shake things up a little... I think I could cope with a day and I quite fancy having a new FWB

Anyone want to help me write a profile that avoids cliches? grin

BantaBaby Wed 02-Jan-13 09:00:06

Velvet - maybe he was busy getting to work or something. Stop stressing about it.

lubeybooby Wed 02-Jan-13 09:01:32

MASSIVE [wetfish] for you. Enormous. Knocking you right off your feet (but landing on something squishy)

Messaging all last night is quite enough. You can't keep it up all day too - chill

and I often read a text but wait ages to reply if I'm busy. I only read to see if it's terribly urgent and if not then leave it.

48howdidthathappen Wed 02-Jan-13 09:04:25

Hmmm. Musing about OD as oppose to RL.

Mr R&R and Mr Oz (both RL) on paper would not light my fire. Yet a huge spark/connection with both. Two things they both have in common. Neither like me has has ever married. Both are childless. Makes things so simple. Really like being a teen all over again. Maybe I am unwittingly drawn to the uncomplicated.

All my OD experiences have been with men that on the whole have a certain amount of bitterness about how life has panned out. Almost as if they need rescuing, you know someone to make it all better. Needy.
Bloody hard work!

VelvetSpoon Wed 02-Jan-13 09:09:13

He has now replied smile calm has been restored. He was a bit brief, but he is at work so I won't read anything into that.

Will see how the day pans out and keep the fish in reserve for now!

Thank you for all being the voices of reason smile

48howdidthathappen Wed 02-Jan-13 09:30:44

Velvet Have you had 2nd date? Hard to keep up to speed.

scrablet Wed 02-Jan-13 09:34:26

De-lurking just to wish the thread A Very Happy New Year and I hope 2013 brings you everything you all want, whatever it might be.

VelvetSpoon Wed 02-Jan-13 09:47:21

48 not yet - 2nd date was meant to be last night but he cancelled as not feeling great. Rearranged for this weekend smile

Have you had your full english yet? I am starving and very envious...this was not a good day to start a diet!

lubeybooby Wed 02-Jan-13 09:54:15

Velvet I shall be dieting again, not quite yet though. I usually seem to manage to start properly around the 4th having either eaten or chucked out all the xmas crap.

My full english is looking like being more a brunch than brekkie.. bloody phone, bloody rl, etc getting in the way.

48howdidthathappen Wed 02-Jan-13 09:56:44

Ah right. To be honest can see why he cancelled. Both me and Mr R&R were knackered before the event. Wiped out now.

Breakfast at lunch time. I never eat before midday. Tea and fags are my staple diet.

Nomorepain Wed 02-Jan-13 12:00:40

I'm just chatting to someone on pof. He's told me he is a penguin picker upperer. Is that some kind of euphemism?! He is 2 years younger than me too!! Never gone near a younger boy before!!!

MsArsebiscuit Wed 02-Jan-13 12:02:28

I didn't realise that Juliette had an actual wet fish. I now know where it is if I need it.

Message from New Celt asking a load more questions, I have to say that amongst my varied, and possibly unreasonable OD dislikes, are being interrogated, and men who end all their messages with a 'x'. NC does both and I suspect he may be a little in love with the idea of being a soulful, lyrical Irishman with the mists of the Old Country reflected in his mournful eyes as he cradles his pint of Guinness and quotes Heaney. I have experience of men like this. In fact I may order myself a t-shirt with that printed in a super sized font.

I had a text in the early hours from Emoticon Man wishing me a Happy New Year, he is supposed to be all loved up with some woman he reeled in by his profligate use of smileys.

I've not heard from Talent Show, I want to text him and say Happy New Year. I know this is the wrong thing to do. Still want to do it though.

Oh, and there's a profile on MA that I really like, he's asked to see my photo, fingers crossed .

MsArsebiscuit Wed 02-Jan-13 12:04:50

'Penguin picker upper ' ? I'd be tempted to check Urban Dictionary just in case it's some bizarre fetish.

VelvetSpoon Wed 02-Jan-13 12:06:27

Nomore I'll be disappointed if its a euphemism, I have a vision of a man walking round picking up fallen-over penguins! smile

I quite like a x on the end of messages. Spaceman and I are up to 3 x's (though I did get 5 in his last msg last night!)

Nomorepain Wed 02-Jan-13 12:09:41

Velvet - thats exactly what he has just told me he does! Apparently works for London zoo penguin aquarium and because its in the flight path of heathrow and gatwick it's disorientates the penguins and they fall over so he picks them up. Oh and he lives in the Midlands!! Seriously, I am not an idiot but he is making me feel like one!! Can't work out if he is having me at it or not!! I'm guessing he is!!

BillMasen Wed 02-Jan-13 12:15:30

Yes it's a wind up, and an old one at that. Still, if he's amusing you then that's not a bad thing...

48howdidthathappen Wed 02-Jan-13 12:17:05

Tell him you are not a picker upper of penguin picker uppers.

MsArsebiscuit Wed 02-Jan-13 12:17:49

I like 'x' when I know them, Velvet, it's just when they automatically do it. I know, it is me being unreasonable. The messages from Spaceman sound lovely.

Nomore, I think he is having you on, I thought the penguin thing was something they used to say about the Falklands. I'm not a penguin expert though.

I'm going to bin NC off, I reckon he's an arse, I've just had another message from him and he appears to be trying to manipulate me into talking to him on the phone when I said that I wanted to get to know him slightly better before we swapped numbers. You are trying it on with the wrong woman, you divvy.

Nomorepain Wed 02-Jan-13 12:23:51

Right I told him! Idiot! Why do that? Arghhhh hate pof! I hate being gullible but then I didn't want to offend him. Stupid!

I used your line 48 - thanks!

ike1 Wed 02-Jan-13 12:26:47

I am the official bloated face of Xmas and NYE excess...still I refuse to give in to any diets till the kids go back Mon..

BantaBaby Wed 02-Jan-13 12:34:00

yeah there's an old urban legend about penguins falling over backwards when they're trying to watch the planes fly over in the falklands. It's rubbish. If he spends all his time picking up penguins, he's going to smell really strongly of rotten fish. And have birdshit all over him.

Nomorepain Wed 02-Jan-13 12:39:19

Seriously why wood nyone do that! It's upset me. I just don't get it!!

Nomorepain Wed 02-Jan-13 12:40:00

Bloody predictive text!!
Why would anyone do that!!!!!!
Not having a good day!!!!!!!!!
