when DH/DP having affair, typical behaviour they resort to which is pretty much the same for them all

I'm not sure there is a 'typical'. There's a stereotypical behaviour.... secrecy, acting out of character, aggressive when challenged, blaming others for own shortcomings.... but it's not universal so unwise to be lulled into a false sense of security just because someone is not following the pattern. Post discovery of an affair 'the script' would be things like 'she meant nothing', 'you drove me away', 'you're not perfect either' etc.
