partner or husband? makes a difference
best advice is to see a solicitor asap - chances are he is the one who will have to leave if you have care of the children.

Is your name on the deeds/mortgage?

You don't have to go anywhere if your name is on the mortgage/deeds if only his name is on there technically it is his house. I'd get some free legal advice from a 30 min appointment with a solicitor.

If you co-own the house he can't kick you out. If he is violent you can have him removed by the police even though he co-owns the house. Get some legal advice, there is a good chance he can be made to leave.

When it comes to solicitors, avoid picking one out of the yellow pages as personal recommendaton is best.

Give the Women's Aid 24 hour Helpline a call - freephone 0808 2000 247 or 808 2000 247 from a mobile (calls charged at network rates) - and ask their advice or for a recommendation for a solicitor in your area who specialises in family law.
