We made a music video for our wedding invites, not sure if it's rubbish. Feedback welcome!

Hi

Instead of ordering paper invites, my fiance and I thought we would be different and we've made a music video to send out to friends and family as a DVD inviting them to our wedding. It's all deliberately cheesy but I'd still like your feedback before I send it out because I'm worried its rubbish!

The beginning is stupid with a time-lapse of our cat so skip to 3:30

Thanks! Hope it's not too boring

It's different! But I kinda like it!

Love it!
Well, to be completely honest, I love the 99 problems rap but I have to say not the massive pre-amble. I don't get the time-lapse cat bit, nor the hubbie-to-be wandering around bit. Think you should just send out the rap. Really made me laugh. Well done - and congratulations!

Add me as guest 200 Grin

Only one problem. Where is the mention of location and times? Hmm Smile

TBH, I think you're right with the rubbish. Sorry. All people want is a bit of paper with the details of where to turn up and when.

deste · 12/10/2011 21:03

I think it's clever but just from 3.30 onwards.

Editing urgently needed to create the director's cut.

Gorgeous as s/he is, the pussy has to go (sorry you've ended up on the cutting room floor, puss, but you'll still be paid at Equity rates).

Hands in the sink is not the most flattering look for the bride-to-be and I'd go with topsmart's suggestion - forget the crap, stick wth the rap.

Many congratulations to both of you and I have no doubt that you're going to have a wow of a wedding.

I'm sure I speak for all of us by saying we're immensely flattered that we've been invited to celebrate your special day, and I've already put 50p in the kitty (not, I hasten to add, into your special kitty) to buy you that Argos toaster you've always wanted Grin

honestly? i really really think it's naff and would much rather have a proper piece of paper that i can stick in the car when i am on my way.

It's funny but even after the cat and washing up bit it goes on for to long and starts to get a bit drawn out. Sorry Blush

As His Majesty has said, it may be advisable to have 2-tier invites - rap video for your mates and hand-lettered scrolls for the gps/great aunts. etc.

dearprudence · 12/10/2011 22:00

Well you said skip to 3:30 so I assume that's where you'll start the DVD version for your guests.

I like the idea and I think it's funny and unusual. But 4 mins of the spoof song/rapping is too long, IMO.

And you should include time/place etc on the DVD, but obviously wouldn't put this on YouTube.

sayithowitis · 12/10/2011 22:25

Well, I'm not sure I'd be sending it to any of the aunts that you so tastefully describe as MILFs!

Report
TryLikingClarity · 13/10/2011 12:18

Well, that was different!

I don't know what your great aunts and elderly rellies are like, but if I sent that to my granda he would have binned it long before it got to its 7th minute!

maybe keep it for the young hip trendy friends who will have a baldy clue that it's a spoof of Jay-Z and Bey, they might get the joke and enjoy it.

These things are always funnier if you actually know the people involved.. so I'm sure your friends/family will find it funny.

It's far too long though! And sack the cameraman!!

But ahh no, nice idea and you can tell a lot of effort has gone into it. Have a fun wedding!

garlicScaresVampires · 13/10/2011 13:35

I like it and it made me really like the pair of you!

But it's waaaaaaay too long. Needs ruthless cutting. You may have to keep the relationship history for personal use - or upload it separately, at least (I can see how you wouldn't want all that creative work to languish forever unknown!)

I've kept the day clear. Cheers for the invite Wink

Whizkidwithacrazystreak · 13/10/2011 18:24

Interesting, but I'd have to agree with those who recommend cutting the intro as it's just too long and tedious.

Remember to edit in the venue details!

Just the rap bit. Funny and sweet.

I got bored. Sorry.

Friends got an invite to a wedding, featuring a weblink to proper invite. It was the most cringe-worthy, vomit inducing cheese fest I have ever seen... EVERYONE laughed, which was not what the couple had hoped for. It was a photo-montage of 100's of "professional" pics of them taken on a beach in the Maldives, with some sniveling boy band crooning over the top.

I cannot believe a single member of their immediate family didn't pull them aside when they started it and tell them what a complete fuck wit idea it was.

I would have loved to have posted a link to it on here at the time, but I didn't dare Grin

I shall go back and watch from 3 minutes Blush

Just the rap. Cut the first 3 minutes. Like the idea though. Original. Happy Wedding

Sorry but the first two minutes are what the fuck! Then it is just crap. The rapping is cheesy but crap. Sorry, but it is awful. I had visions of people holding boards with writing on or something, a la love actually style. This is horrendous. Seriously, wtf!

Report
ScaredyDog · 13/10/2011 19:05

The raps a brilliant idea, but it does go on a little bit. You could have been a bit more, ahem, enthusiastic I thought with your rapping - your DF was well into it though.

Congratulations! Now, how can I get this to go viral?
