How do I view another mumsnetter profile?

I have been reading a thread where someone said "if you look at my profile I have a picture there". However, for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do this. I tried to click on her name, that didn't work. Have read another thread which suggests there is an icon that looks like an open book......huh? don't have one of those. Very puzzled. Please help me mumsnet experts!

You hover over their name on a thread. Some are private and will not open if they have chosen to be anonymous completely.

If you hover over their user name, it may or may not open their profile depending on whether it turns into an underlined name.

So if you hover over mumblechum1 on top of this message you can peek into the starry thrilling rollercoaster of my life.

That's weird. I've just hovered over it myself and went straight to my profile (for some reason it says I don't have children - damn, I knew I'd left something behind today).

Maybe you should mail MNHQ for advice.

was it a recent post? sometimes people post pictures, but then make their profile all private again afterwards

Oh you are ALL brilliant! I just spent about 20 minutes trying to negotiate my way back to this page! I am SO lost here on MN. Thank you mumblechum - I see your profile AND can see that your pictures are not public - all very helpful. I am going back to the post now (give me time, it could take a while to find it again!). I think it is fairly recent because it was emailed to me (it's a page about a product). Will let you know how I get on...........

OK, so it turns out is an old thread (2009!)- the person concerned appears to have changed their name and have become a wee bit more private so no more pictures, no more anything.

You have all been extremely helpful - I won't ever hesitate to ask for help again! THANK YOU!

I’m hoping someone somewhere sees a notification for this thread as I can’t find an “active date” for it 🤦🏼‍♀️ How do I view my own profile and the posts I’ve made? Do I need an app? Safari on iPhone is confusing the beejesus out of me 😩 help! not as old as I sound, older than I should be to be this confused SIGH
