I've just found out my dp uses viagra but he doesn't get it from the GP

He orders it online. I am concerned because I have heard it can cause infertility and I know he really wants children (not such an issue for me as I have three already!) I think ordering drugs from the internet is a bad idea if it's not via the GP.

I don't feel I should ask him about it because he hasn't told me and I don't want to make him uncomfortable.

I noticed the first time I had sex with him he did seem to have trouble keeping an erection which really stressed him out and he did say that he was worried I would lose interest if he had problems. After that we never had any problem but if he's been drinking he tends to voice his concerns that he has some problem with erections.

My view is that he probably doesn't have a problem and it's likely to be in his head. He's only 29 and certainly doesn't have low libido.

What he chooses to do is none of my business really but I am worried he is unaware of the possible down sides of using a drug like this without proper explanation from a doctor.

If he hasn't told you, how exactly have you found out?

He uses his laptop in front of me and is not secretive about which pages he visits!

If he's ordering online in front of you, surely that's the window to ask him about it?

Yes, perhaps. From talking to friends it seems that there are a lot of men who do this and have these pills as a kind of safety net.

He doesn't actually order it in front of me but he looks at his banks statements online, points things out to me (not that though!) and that's where I saw it.

Well that is incredibly odd then tbh. If he has erectile problems he needs to get to the doctor. He won't tell you or discuss this directly but will order it online in front of you? It strikes me as an incredibly odd thing to be doing.

Yes I thought it was a bit odd. My main concern is that a doctor is able to explain risk benefit with drugs they will prescribe and who knows how much of this he is taking.

anyone else have a partner who uses this recreationally or has had it prescribed?

Is it a fact that Viagra can cause infertility or is it a possible side effect, or maybe a urban myth?

Tell him to go to a doctor for a proper prescription, never mind side effects, if he's bought it online it could well be fake, gods know what could be in it!

He needs to get to the crux of his erectile difficulties, be they physical or psychological. To do that he may need your support to see a GP together. Talk to him, tell him what you've told us and your concerns. You seem to be supportive and concerned, let him know that you are willing to help.

My husband has this prescribed as he is diabetic and it's a side effect, never heard of it causing infertility though. I suspect your partner is feeling too embarrased to talk to a doctor, but really he should talk to the doctor about it.
