I have a terrible sense of foreboding listening to the Archers at the moment....

Something awful is going to happen to Susan's glass bowl, isn't it? I just can't see it surviving the flower show.

good god... as soon as clarrie mentioned the glass bowl i knew it was a gonna and with neils pig business on the rocks... it's gonna be a susan carter moan angst fest... i can't wait!!!

and anyone else bored to tears with the lillian/matt storyline... for gawds sake just get him to tell you what he's been upto... or throw him out.... not sure how much of lillian's Shrill "Matt! Matt" i can take anymore!

I am disappointed in Lillian. She should be giving as good as she is getting: stopping out all night with Kenton, not making meals/coffee, disappearing off on girlie shopping trips and generally let Matt come home to an empty house. Surely she should know that her clinginess will not help the situation.
(I've forgotten who owns the Dower House - is it Matt's?)

That bowl is doomed, i tell you.

Yes the bowl is doomed

Im bored of the matt/lillian saga too
She should get rid

Helen and Tom so loved up - how long will that last surely a disaster is just around the corner

What exactly is Annette up to?
When is brenda going to flip out?

So many unanswered questions!

No, no. Surely Tom and Brenda are being set up as the next generation's Brine and JD?

And what is it with Ambridge men thinking that girlfriend = unpaid lackey? (Tom+Kirsty, Tom+Brenda, Jezzer+Annette)

R4 - because Ambridge is a mirror of real life, I'm afraid.

Matt! What a selfish b***d!!! You want to kill yourself...? go ahead but there's no need to endanger other people/families on the road...!!! Argh!

However, i do need to remind myself that this is not real and i should calm down!!!!

Did anyone else feel a sense of Schadenfreude at Jim's announcement tonight? Will be fun to watch Shula squirming when he arrives. Loved the touch of it being Blossom Hill cottage, too...

The heat has fried my brain. Can somebody please explan what happened to that bowl. It might be quicker if you just list those characters who were not involved ...

Report
missingtheaction · 30/06/2009 08:36

look, it's simple really - Jazzer sold it to Christopher, who sold it to a shop, where Neil bought it to replace itself, and gave it to Susan who didn't recognise it and put it in a cupboard. Honestly, simple really.

I hear that next week Greg will step out of the shower and the last couple of years will all have been a dream...

i haven't heard last night's yet. WHY did christopher sell it to a shop? he is a blacksmith not nelson gabriel reincarnated with his antiquing.

Shellseeker · 30/06/2009 20:29

Ohhhhhh...I hadn't realised it was the same bowl.

He had lined up a prank to get one of his Horrobin uncles to drop it at his 21st dinner, sending Susan (who would think it was her precious one) into apoplexy. Alice talked him out of it.

Ok, so you are Lilian. Your partner gets involved in dodgy dealings, scares you shitless with talk of how his partner has threatened to take revenge, disappears for days on end, acts like a complete twat to you when he is there and generally treats you with zero respect. Do you:

a) deliver a sharp yank to his nutsack before informing him that he is dumped and please do let the door hit him on the arse on the way out of town;

b) follow him around like a small, anxious dog, squeaking 'Matt! Matt! Tell me what's wrong! Treat me like shit some more! I don't need respect, or indeed self-respect. Here, shall I prostrate myself naked in the mud for all of our family and friends to see, just to compound my intense humiliation? Matt!'

FFS. Can you tell this has been annoying me lately?

Cyteen it is how the sisters behave, jenni dahling and fag ash lil are doormats.

Report
Northernlurker · 01/07/2009 19:28

JD and fag ash's behaviour of course comes in a direct line from their mother and father's relationship. Jack Archer was a git and his unpleasantness (coupled with alcholism) made for a nasty home atmosphere in which Peggy appeared to do most of the heavy lifting but in fact the whole thing was balanced around Jack's moods. This has produced 2 children who try to give the impression of being in control but are in fact very insecure and one whining git whose wife really does do all the work!

Heaven help the next generation - Debbie has got all sort of issues, Adam moans for Britain, Kate has completely abdicated familial responsibility and I just cannot believe Alice is old enough for an opinion. On the other branches - James is a git (see above), Tom whines (see above) and Helen has already had one lover shoot himself, developed an eating disorder and an unhealthy love of cheese. John of course was so selfish as to get crushed by that tractor way back in the nineties...

Pip looks well balanced and lovely compared to that lot!

DH despairs - the afternoon dose of Archers appears just as I'm leaving work, and more often than not I make them listen to the latest episode while I'm making dinner (so I listen to it every other day, making me nothing short of moderate)

DH has no truck with the bowl controversy, and is secretly praying for an Annette/Tom renaissance.

Shula's being a prize bitch again, isn't she? I mean, nobody would want a FIL like that moving into your village, but she's just using the whole cottage thing as a stick to beat Alan and Usha with.

Who else thinks Matt's about to top himself?

Report
Lilymaid · 03/07/2009 23:19

Surely the question is whether or not Matt is lighting the touch paper for the destruction of BL (why has Borchester Land suddenly become BL?) before he is led away by the Fraud Squad/drives into a tree at high speed.

I AM [SHOCK] at Lilians wimpish behaviour.

I am hoping she will take Cyteens A option and her dirty laugh will ring around Ambridge again.
