I know bbc R1 is contemporary music, i think R5 is sport, but what are the differnces between the others.

when is the best times to listen in, because when i surf between them, i dont seem to find anything interesting.

i like talk, current affairs, comedy, dont listen to music that much but like 60s 70s 80s music.

thanks

R2 is general music (avoid Jeremy Vine)

R3 is classical (high brow)

R4 id talk/current affairs/comedy

I often listen fo R4 first thing in the morning (Today programme), ay lunchtime and the between 5 and 7 (PM show and comedy at 6 30 - Froidays are good for comedy - now show/new quiz v good)

R4 news art talk if you want to know what is going on more in depth

6music grown up music for people who like music

R2 middle age station for people who don't like new music and probably like banter DJ's

R3 more classical and sometimes world

IMO

ok, that helps a lot.
thank you.

i dont like r1 music, too indie and presenters tend to find quite pretentious.

but i think r2 wont be for me.

what about r7? or have i just made that one up?

There is a Radio 6 but I've never really understood what it's all about. Radio2 is especially good on a Saturday - and much less middle-aged than it used to be. Radio 4 is fantastic - Women's Hour at 10 is reliably good.

R2 is my fave [old git emoticon] as I like the chat and the music (mix of contemporary and lots of other stuff). There are also specific progs for country and folk music. Elaine Paige doing show tunes at the weekend. Jonathon Ross being naughty on a Saturday. Radcliffe and Maconie in the evenings is really good, mix of chat and all sorts of music. I could go on....

R4 is my second choice and is good for more in depth news/current affairs stuff, plays and comedy. News Quiz is very funny.
