American accents on radio...

am just listening to afternoon play on R4 and it has American characters in it - do they use American actors do you think because the accents always sound a bit put on sometimes and it irritates me - do English actors do Amewrican very well ? I don't think so...

Check the listings and see if either Rolf Saxon or Kerry Shale is on the cast list.
They seem to have cornered the market in American Men on Radio 4

Oh God, the American accents on Radio 4 are really tooth itchingly awful.
Why do they do it like that? as you said, just get an american in to do it. Having said that, there was something (I think spooks on TV)_ where everyone complained about the terrible american accent of the woman. Turns out she actually is American!

Have you ever heard any Paul Temple? They always have Johnny Foreigner on Paul Temple mysteries and hte accents are DREADFUL!

I don't know whether I have - probably ! They just sound very false, even the real Americans,it seems !
