Absolutely devastated at today's news. The News Quiz will miss him greatly. He would probably laugh at a post lamenting his loss on MN but I'm putting it up here anyway.

Sad news! It's such a tragic coincidence that both he, and the equally brilliant Linda Smith, both died from cancer so young.

His voice has been in my ear since the mid-90s. He was reasonably good with accents but a terrible singer. He was genuinely funny. I saw him about 12 years ago when he performed in Dublin and he was really good.

So sad. Saturday mornings with my late DH were always cup of tea, The Archers, then News Quiz, made especially good if Jeremy Hardy was on, ranting.

My dream team for the News Quiz was, for a long time, Alan Coren, Linda Smith, Jeremy Hardy and Andy Hamilton. It's really awful that cancer has got three of them. Fuck cancer.
