Splendid Pseudo - thank you

Very nice! Thanks Pseudo.Star

Rather nice episode, too. Always great to hear Aldridge sisters together. And yes, poor Will, all twisted into knots.

Home Farm and the toxic waste are looking more and more like Northumberland though. Wonder who gets to be Heather ...

Thread 89 - thanks, Pseudo.

R4 makes a good point at the end of the last thread - William's pride means he can't just admit why he needs to work full time, which is stupid when Clarrie would be prepared to help if she knew the situation.

Thanks Pseudo.

Will is just getting worse and worse. This thing with the custody of the kids is just awful.

Thank you! I thought earlier on about suggesting ‘Is there light at the end of the poly tunnel’ but am too late. Great title. It is a very canine show at the moment, and looks good from behind 🐶

Will is such a muppet!
Can't stand him but I do feel sorry for his situation. However, he has so much support & he is still going to sabotage everything isn't he? He's going to go back to work full time so he can keep the cottage & his childcare will probably go wrong, alienating Jake further. He'll be so busy bending over backwards being Disney dad to Jake that he'll alienate the other kids.
He thinks the solicitor told him he had a strong case for keeping Jake & Mia living with him - maybe he does, I'm not a lawyer. He didn't take on board the piece about Jake & Mia being old enough to have their wishes taken into account did he? So I can just see him lording it over Andrew because he thinks he'll win if it goes legal, & then the kids being asked what they want & deciding to go live with Andrew as Will's home life is so chaotic & dysfunctional.......

Home Farm and the toxic waste are looking more and more like Northumberland beautifully put - I was thinking exactly the same. Brian is selling off the land he’s just bought and everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet. I suppose he could still go to prison, but this seems increasingly doubtful judging by the way everything else has fallen into his lap. Re Will and the custody battle I’m guessing Jake and Mia will prefer to live with Andrew - especially when William goes back to work.

Anyone else wondering when Justin will swoop in and rebut the land in order to do whatever he wanted all along? I found it suspicious when he sold the land to Brian in the first place.

I'm just hoping somewhere along the way Martin gets his comeuppance.

Now, Martin would make a good Heather ...

Expendable.

I imagine Justin will also buy it back more cheaply.

He thinks the solicitor told him he had a strong case for keeping Jake & Mia living with him - maybe he does, I'm not a lawyer.

My thoughts were:

  1. It's what Will reported the lawyer said. He's not the most reliable narrator. And,
  2. The lawyer was only working off data supplied by Will. I repeat my caveat.

I agree Willyum is interpreting what lawyer said. He’s heard only what he wants to hear. So lawyer said the older children get to say where they’d prefer to live and Will thinks if he throws enough money at them, they’ll choose him. He can’t see further than his own chin and consider how the children might feel. Jake might very well prefer his dad’s house. It’s likely to be nearer school and friends, happier cos Andrew’s unlikely to be as poleaxed by Nicc’s death as Will is. Less chaotic. No resident 4 yo. I think W’s going to take advantage of the older children to mind Poppy. To keep on top of FT work, he’ll be nipping out to check birds etc late at night when Poppy’s asleep, or he thinks she’s asleep. The older children will be glued to screens unconscious till noon on no school days, and have no idea what Poppy’s up to. Something will happen and it’ll be everyone else’s fault of course.

But it's not fair to expect Clarrie to take Nic's place. Will will have to employ a proper nanny or childminder.

Exactly.
If he's going back to work full time & living in the cottage as the only adult with the kids, he needs proper childcare in place. A patchwork of Clarrie, Emma, Eddie etc stepping in when they all have jobs is just not going to work as a longterm solution.

Came in to say - what about GDPR??? (Saddo)

And they should bring back ‘working holidays’ like people used to do hop-picking in the 30s, 50s, that would be the solution to the lack of foreign labour!

IANAL but in what context would a solicitor advise Will that he had a strong case over the biological parent (with whom contact is regular and good) rather than stressing that the children's wishes and well being are most important?

I know we are getting Will's interpretation but its a fair old stretch from what I'd expect a solicitor to say.

I'm also wondering how he is going to do all the night shifts etc without residential help.

BikingBeatrix · 12/05/2018 21:18

How the lawyer has responded will of course depend on how Will has painted things. If he’s said Andrew is a ne’er do well and neglected the children throughout their lives, and that he’s been the main father figure for however many years, the lawyer might say Will has an excellent chance bladdy bla.

We only know what Will told Clarrie. And he is already lying to her about the cottage and his job so could just as easily be lying about this too.
