What an amazing, inspiring woman. I am deeply ashamed that I had never heard of her before, and to hear her story was humbling.

In a week when Mugabe was appointed as an ambassador for WHO it is good to hear that there are people like her in the world doing more for women's health in Africa than most other government and NGO seem able to achieve.

Completely agree on all points, viques, and I was just going to start a thread to say so. Her name is Edna Adan Ismail (just copied this from Wikipedia).
