New thread for the celebrity packed hour long special tonight! Welcome to regulars and newbies alike
NO SPOILERS please there's a thread for that here
*Added by MNHQ: NB there will be spoilers on this thread for those who are yet to listen to the one hour special.*
Listening to the omnibus for the first time in ages.
Blimey.
Flower & Produce Show please. Or a dull SL about silage.
It's a bit much all together isn't it!
Thanks for the new thread
I'm stocking up on for tonight, just got to get DH out of the way and I'm sorted
I'm not going to listen tonight so please can someone post the verdict!!
I listened to the omnibus today, first time in months. It used to be part of my regular Sunday routine. Maybe after tonight I can get it back again.
I have a lengthy sanding job lined up for this evening.
Thank you pseudo.
Thanks, Pseudo!
I've just told the family straight that I will be unavailable between 7pm and 8pm. Nothing short of something meriting a 999 call will get me to stop listening to the radio during that hour. They have all rolled their eyes and accepted it. I maintain excellent Archers-related discipline here.
My village in Fairyland is a huge geographical area and the "village" is three houses, a war memorial and a garage/post office. We have issues too:
Our version of The closed down when the tenant did a runner. This involved stealing everything in the building, including the industrial kitchen and changing the locks. When the owner took back possession he had to break in and discovered an empty shell. It's been shut since.
Rabbits. Fekkin' everywhere. bastards
My neighbour was repairing his topper when the prop broke and it fell on him, shattering his pelvis. He's been a bit odd since, but he's lucky to be alive.
Some Justin Elliott type developer wanted to put a 9 turbine windfarm right opposite my house. They would have been the tallest turbines in Fairyland. But luckily the Council saw sense, just as the government withdrew subsidies, so my view is safe for now.
Our local landowner is a member of a very famous aristocratic family. None of his kids wanted to inherit as they justifiably think it's a giant money pit. The whole lot is now for sale, tenant houses, tenant farms and everything. We're just waiting to see which billionaire oligarch buys it, to spend a week a year here shooting.
I don't think there's an S&M dungeon in anyone's living shed. Or maybe I've just never been invited
I want to listen but I'm feeling really, really nervous about it. Which I guess represents a huge triumph on the part of the SWs (and indeed the whole team). I've been like a cat on a hot tin roof all week. I'm going to put my head above the parapet and say congratulations to all of them.
Lambing shed
I'm another returner. Have hardly listened for months (but lurked on these threads from time to time). Listened to the Omnibus after reading the last thread from start to finish yesterday. Looking forward to this evening now.
I posted on the thread but failed to notice the new one. How come Phoebe isn't taking a gap year to go to South Africa? Because if she were real, that's absolutely what she would do. Is it just because it would force everyone in Ambridge to remember the existence of Noli and Sipho?
Jasper, I replied on the other thread - gap years are uncommon now.
I have a small bone to pick with Henry's interview (only 3 days after the incident). Henry said "Daddy told me to go back upstairs". Surely he would have said "shouted at me". Roared, is how I remember it.
Massive aside. Why does no-one in Ambridge own a cat?
Henry was actually defiant and said, 'No'. That was when Rob shouted, 'Come here, you little........'
What a shame Helen didn't remember that bit as it would back up the self-defence plea.
Sara - Peggy was always a cat owner - does she still have Bill and/or Ben?
Ooh, a shiny new thread. Thanks Pseudo
Thanks Erroll I forgot about Bill and Ben. One did die, but I can't remember which.
Peggy's Bill or Ben died. A few years back. i assume she still has the survivor. Isn't the lying horsewoman a cat person too?
Lovely thread. Thanks, Pseudo.
Despite the house having a 75% listenership amongst the current residents, I'll be in my bedroom with the door shut between 7 and 8 tonight. In an emergency I might consider being disturbed but it would have to be a dire emergency. Sod's law a son will fall on the stairs at a crucial moment. Though i have dug out some blank cassettes so we can record it.
I realised on Friday i was unhealthily overinfested when considering cancelling a medical appt tomorrow afternoon around 2pm when the repeat would be playing.
Round here we have at least 2 Justin Elliot types. And there are planning disputes all the time. A recent community council meeting ended in almost fisticuffs. And i dreamed - a few months ago -that a nearby village had an S&M 'facility'. I keep trying to find the right moment to ask a friend who lives in said village if there is any grain of truth!
I'm dreading tonight's now. I was hopeful earlier in the week but now I feel sure that SOC is going to leave it all thoroughly messed up.
l listened to a bit of the sunday repeat today and heard Henry's evidence again. I noticed this time that Henry said that his bedtime routine is mummy, daddy and grandma cleaning his teeth and reading him a story. Poor Helen. She wasn't even allowed time alone with Henry at his bedtime.
