(5 Posts)Fellow Radio lovers, we are Cabin Pressure fans, also am now having the joys of introducing the DCs to HGTTG.
So, Zaphod and Ford are just about to steal the stunt ship from the car park at Milliways, and Zaphod mentions that they better get a move on as soon "all the Captain Crieffs' will be coming back down.
What is this reference? Is this where John Finnemore got the name? Are there any other links?
I am confused. And possibly in need of a Pangalatic Gargleblaster. It'll be a lot more fun than listening to the trial on the Archers.
I've never heard of that connection and a quick Google doesn't reveal anything obvious.
However (sorry if everyone knew this already), there's another interesting snippet about the name choices. Gerti is said to be a Lockheed McDonnell, which is a fictional make of aircraft but an amalgamation of the names of two real aircraft manufacturers, Lockheed Martin and McDonnell Douglas. Spot anything familiar in those names?
It's not Captain Crieff, it's captain creeps!
(As in all the captain people ;-))
Oh, that makes more sense! My old ears were playing tricks.
