We love Charlie. But we want Adam and Ian to get married. What will happen in Ambridge in the pre-Christmas thread?

Just listened to Friday - we are 2 weeks from Christmas and David didn't even ask whether Ruth will be back by then?

Checking in. Thanks for the new thread Pseudo. He didn't ask about the mysterious "Sam" either.

Can't listen today to catch up so will have to rely on you lot...

Yes, many thanks Pseudo!Flowers

I'm having to listen to it all for the third time. Usually I wander in and out on Sundays - but after the shock revelation of extra bits snuck into the film I dare not leave. Xmas BlushXmas Grin

I'm lost re Ruth is there no specified end to the trip? Is it six weeks or six months?

Thanks Pseudo :)

Wips - she's extended her trip for an unspecified time. Unrealistically given it's nearly Xmas obviously!

Because of course a load of total strangers in NZ want nothing more than to have Ruth moaning at staying with them for several weeks on an indefinite visit at Christmas time.

Thankyou Pseudo.

I've just caught the Ed and Joe exchange again on the film. Wonderful stuff, properly mawkish I know but it did make me feel all wobbly inside. I do love Ed; I want him and Emmur to have a happy and fulfilled life together. Some one on the last thread suggested that Caro & Ollie will stay abroad just popping in occasionally to dispense wisdom and encouragement to Ed and that suits me just fine.

It would appear that she's trying to sabotage her own marriage - if you complain about people not talking to you when you are in the same time zone why go off to the other side of the planet? Cuckoo.

Do they have any mothers on the sw team who might point out Ruth might actually miss her kids given how much time she has spent away this year?

Or anyone who understands flights to and from oz/nz/sa are pretty rammed at this time of year and you don't just rock up at the airport with your 'open ticket' and demand to be given a seat

The lack of common sense in the editing is really irritating. I think they need a real life consultant along with the agricultural one

All the angsting over joe having to go to the hostel (as if they wouldn't have him in the flat) really pissed me off. Yes we got the happy ending but it was all too predictable. Their shitty writing has been saved by the actors yet again

Pregnant Lizzie was dumped at a service station the night before one of my GCSE exams (mocks?). That storyline was where I started listening, in order to get a 15 min break from revision each night

Are nz farmers really that desperate for a bit of Hungarian translation?

Well, it can be a but lonely out on a remote sheep station...

Didn't she say that Ray and his family were there? Is the family just children, or a wife, too?

Ben's only 13 - they're not yet of an age to be doing Christmas off travelling or anything yet (even if she is.)

My d (13) has recently re-discovered her love of jigsaw puzzles so I dusted this off for her.

Am still following TA through the medium of wishful thinking, sorry, through this thread. Love the Afghan at Nightingale Farm

I had a good cry at Joe and Ed. Predictable but still lovely. I either managed to miss all the Rob bits this week or he wasn't around much. I am 7months preggo and find myself getting so wound up and angry with him that my DP actually suggested I took an archers break.... Poor DP doesn't listen and so didn't know that the worst possible thing he could do was take a rob style "you are pregnant and therefore hormonal, crazy and need to be told what to do". He was rather shocked by my reply x

She's taken over the dining table with it so I hope she's finished by Christmas.

Am off to help her. She's just called "I found an onion!"

Checking in. Had to abandon attempt to listen to film. Will catch up later. Did Ruth give a reason for extending her stay. I thought it was a trip organised by a local group, assumed it would have clear dates.

Ruth went on a trip organised by a Borchester Dairy Farmers group
minimammoth . Ruth decided to extend her stay and make the most of her " open ticket".
I'm like Xmas Hmm about the cost of her open ticket to NZ in Devember when air fares are at their peak.
And even if her mothers paperwork was very organised it could take three months minimum to obtain grant of probate and then begin to distribute the assets from her Mothers estate. I know, I recently handled Probate on my mothers estate myself.

If a solicitor handles a probate application it could take 6-12 months, easily.

So who knows where the cash is coming from because she won't have it in her bank account in a few weeks after HP's death, just like that.

As far as I remember the farmers' group trip was only two weeks.
