I have never hated a fictional character this much, or allowed one so much head space - I fear he will around for quite some time yet...

I fear you may well be right Will (great name! Did you used to be someone else?)

And thanks, as always, Pseudo

I've had a few Archers related names over the years, I've had this one for a while now.

I try to stay away from these thread as they take up far too much time, but I can take no more of Throb and need to rant.

Thought exactly the same about Justin not having forgotten Stefan while Jenny clearly had - despite much detective work and skulduggery. She wouldn't let the tedious old John Tregorran nonsense drop so why this - no consistency. Just very lazy.

I was wondering (NB have not heard any Justin/Charlie dialogue) if Justin might actually be giving Rob enough rope to hang himself? He didn't get where he is today by being a blinkered old fart...

Thanks for new thread, Pseudo - love the title Grin

Thanks for the new thread.

So, question carried over from last thread: when is Helen's bonus scan? I had thought it was this week, but surely it must be next week and they are going to wring some drama out of it?

GypsyFl0ss · 28/11/2015 13:39

Thankyou Pseudo .

Why mention [the scan] if not?

Oh yeah why mention the sink hole (ok they never called it that but....) the road, Stefan, Clarrie's bloody dress for the wedding.... the list goes on

Thanks for the new thread! The scan is this coming week.

WHAT FOLLOWS IS NOT A SPOILER, ALTHOUGH IT DOES COME FROM THE SPOILER THREAD.

Lillian has put a link on the spoiler thread to a very interesting blog post from somebody who attended some kind of round table discussion recently with Keri Davies, Mary Cutler, Tim Bentinck and somebody else. (If you follow that link, be aware that there is one genuine spoiler in the blog post, which obviously I won't mention here.) However, it also mentions that the archivist has retired and has not been replaced! What a huge surprise - not. Explains a good deal.

Thanks Pseudo , hope you have a good lunch Wine

I think going by the spoilers thread that the scan is next week. I can't believe they would mention it beforehand and not feature it. If they were only going to mention it, in the context of Rob making decisions/spending money, it would surely be afterwards?

Just read Lillian's link, very interesting.

I don't want to go on the spoilers thread but do want to read the link. What can I google it under?

It's on the dumteedum.com website under forums, on a topic starting brizzledum by Aunty Jean. Be warned, there is a big spoiler for February and the presence or not of a character.

I read the start and then chickened out in case I found out something I didn't want to know. But the first 4 or 5 points were interesting. I disagree with their analysis of Rob but am more sympathetic to their explanation of Pat.

Yes, I've been pissed and confided things rashly but not to some bloke a very frightened polish guy has told me has blocked a culvert and caused real damage to my community.
I would be doing my best to find said Polish guy, being a tenacious type just like Jennifer, and I'd be gossiping about it at every given opportunity.

Thanks for the thread. I hope you enjoyed lunch.

Never in my life have I contemplated the possibility of not listening to TA. It's part of how I define myself; if asked I would say the "community" I belong to is that of people who've followed TA from childhood through to adult life. It's been my one constant in a too changeable world. The thing that might bind me to a stranger more quickly than class or race or which-college-were-you-at ...

But now they have no archivist. That's been obvious for a while of course. Now we're in the territory of making-it-up-as-they-go-along. And your-script-might-not-quite-tally-with-mine-but-they'll-never-notice ... It's all very well to say they take no notice of audience reaction. Surely they care if people continue to listen? Of course if all the old listeners give up they can turn out any old rubbish to newbies who don't know how it's supposed to be. It's all making me so sad - and I'm ranting because I worry that there is a possibility that I might join all the people for whome this might be their last TA thread. I pray not.

I am going to delurk, having spent the last 2 and a bit years staying in the shadows. (I even name changed last summer in the heady days of LoxFest and the name causes some confusion as to my gender on other threads!) i just wanted to say how much I love these threads, they are the main reason I listen to TA these days and I've been listening on and off since the time of Mark & Shula. It's such a great corner of MN. Thank you. Smile

Do you think he prefers that to Mr Keri? Wink

Keri Davies, Mary Cutler, Tim Bentinck

They've all been around a fair number of years, and should know a fair bit. Even if the archivist's gone, don't they track past stories at all, even if it's a basic spreadsheet or something, backed up by the 9 million-odd Archers books there have been over the decades? And if nowt else, one of them could sneak in here and the other Archers-related places online and ask random questions like, "Do you remember when X and Y did whatever?" and wait for everyone to point out where they've got it wrong.

Roy - you make me wonder how many others there are who regularly read these threads but never comment. There could be hundreds of you reading these words that we know nothing about.

So if you are one of those why not de-cloak now and give us a thought on the current state? How long have you been listening? Come on, you don't need to be an expert on TA - I mean, look at me Smile.

(Plus, I still keep a record of the rate of posting on these threads, and it would be fun to see a crazy spike from de-lurkers...)

I'm still lurking away but reading every word! Trouble is I never have anything original to add but I love reading this thread. So much more enjoyable than listening and the extra background info from you all is fantastic, thank you! Smile
