Arrrrrgh Morse is Rob!!!

Settling down for a 90 minute Morse, knowing it will be a little disappointing as not the wonderful John Thaw, but, if I am not mistaken, it's Rob the Abuser from The Archers!! Obviously had to turn it off. So wrong!

R4 Extra. Honestly could have listened to just about anyone else but couldn't get past it... Kept seeing him criticizing Helen's dress.

I am aghast. I thought I read recently Colin Dexter had denied permission for any more portrayals of 'old' Morse. I thought, since John Thaw can't do it obviously, that was quite appropriate.

I'm a late-comer to Endeavour but have just reached the cliff-hanger at the end of Series 2, and I want more of Young Morse. Shaun Evans does it very well indeed. I have no TV so I await DVD - and it seems to me they've not put out Series 3 yet? Was intending to ask this on MN anyway ....

Have now googled - rob is Timothy Watson, morse is John shrapnel. You aren't wrong though - they do sound v similar!

I am listening to this - I agree that Morse sounds just like Rob (very unnerving). However, Debbie is in it!

That's a bit sad if the actor who played Rob can't be in anything else. Poor guy, he shouldn't have acted so well.

I think Colin Dexter's objection was to people playing Morse on TV. I assume he must have given permission for this when it was first broadcast.
