Did anyone else listen to this ? It was on R4 at 11pm yesterday ( Thursday 20th February ) I've just listened on I player as too scaredy cat last night. OMG it was so good . It's in 2 parts , 1 hour each , the 2nd part on tonight if your brave enough , or wait till daytime and use I player. I didn't see the actual film till about 2 years ago so the story ( and sound effects are still fresh ).

I heard it inAdvetently while up feeding our newborn DD. Most unsettling, and had to stop feeding so I could turn it off!

I thought it was great - very atmospheric and I was glad that R4 didn't try to sanitise the swearing and treated listeners like grown ups who could turn off if they didn't like it.

Looking forward to the next episode Smile

I agree Turps, don't think they should had sanitised or censored it. It was just a bit of a nasty surprise to hear it when I wasn't expecting to. I did indeed behave like an adult and turn it off, lest it give me nightmares!

I thought it was great too. I really like the exorcist- I think it has a powerful message about redemptive love that is sometimes overlooked.

I know that R4 has no watershed and plenty of warnings about bad language were given , but , had a bit of a schoolgirl giggle when the word cunt was used. < I even had to type that with my eyes closed > :)

Hi Chair - sorry I didn't mean to imply that I thought you were being a wimp - I was just responding to the OP. It would have freaked me out too if I had just switched on without knowing what to expect Smile

I'm glad its over. I thought it was over the week and I've been going to sleep in silence or to podcasts.
Not what I want to hear as I'm going to sleep!

I really enjoyed it, and thought it was a great advertisement for the power of radio - you don't need to see something to be scared! The actor who played Regan was terrific.

I find the special effects in the film make it funny rather than scary, but this radio production... Let's just say I could only half listen to it as I was home alone and it would've had me checking behind the doors come bedtime.
