With only 3 people there (oh and some kids). What a shockingly poor episode.

Just listened to it on iPlayer. Really bad... Why was Rosie a non-speaking character?!! And the new Clarrie...her stupid rip off of the old Clarrie's accent is really pissing me off!

What pisses me off most about 'new' Clarrie's accent is that she isn't new. She is the original, so we can't really complain even though I want to.

I didn't understand any of this tbh. If Clarrie-luv wanted a day at the seaside, why not just go to the bloody seaside? There are trains, and cars; it wouldn't have been impossible.

But no, they have to contrive a pointless storyline involving recreating an actual beach, with aeons of cloak-and-dagger stuff and much conspiratorial chuckling. FFS!

Actually, while I'm on the subject, it dawned on me a while back that the scriptwriters are pathetically dependent on birthday storylines. Almost every week it's someone's birthday, and then we have hours of tedious bolleaux about buying cards, and dreaming up surprises, and then the post-mortems as it were ('did so-and-so enjoy their birthday?' Etc etc etc)

I certainly don't know the birthdays of everyone in my neighbourhood and I'd be pretty freaked out if they started obsessively asking me about mine and sending me dozens of cards, but that's what passes for normal in TA, it seems Hmm

Quite. Weston and other places on the Severn estuary are only two hours away. Ditto the south coast.
As ever, the Ambridge micro-climate came into its own. In RL it was an awful day here in Borsetshire - raining with blustery winds which would have blown away all their deckchairs.

I'll forgive them birthdays, since they are all related, but remembering wedding anniversaries takes it too far.

Having seen the way many birthdays were celebrated where I previously lived (bus shelter with balloons and posters with childhood photos of someone when they were actually reaching 30, or 40, or 50, and only decorated because the bus stop was at a T-junction at the entrance to the estate), and it wasn't just the bus shelter but houses and cars also had the balloon treatment... completely OTT in my view, but once again, it was a relatively small village and even though some people had moved into that part, they probably had a relative or in-law locally too.

Arf. They really outdid them selves tonight. They managed to shoehorn in a reference to three different birthdays in one episode.

Do you think that they did it for a dare? Are they being norty because Vanessa is leaving soon. (has she gone yet?)
