I feel a bit sorry for Helen. He's not going to call her is he....

No. Sad

I don't know why though, he was fine with the thought of a one-night-stand for conception purposes, then got all weird when she told him about the donor insemination.

Annoyingly this also makes Tony right with what he said to her before she decided to go ahead.

I bet he thinks it means she's a lesbian.

Oh no seeker - and she's just had her hair cut really short - stereotypes abound :o

Not really. There was something odd about him. She is well rid.
However, he did manage to get her to eat three courses!

It's not him so much R4, I feel like the SWs are suggesting all men will feel like this.

I was just about to start a thread with the subject 'Donor-Daddy or Dog-fighter - place your (illegal) bets now' Grin.... I listened this morning on the way into work and it's clearly not going to end well.

The trouble is they've spent so much time recently signalling the big plot lines in such a clunky way that I'm over-sensitive to it all. The 'is he the donor' theory is possibly too out of left-field even for Ambridge but they've been so outrageously soapy in recent times that I could imagine them doing it. The throwaway (and yet simultaneously shoe-horned in) comment about his mate the foodie-plumber made me wonder if they were linked in with DodgyDarrell's even DodgierBuildingTrade mates and the whole dog-fighting thing...

Am assuming as well that on Friday David and Ruth will hand over the shortfall for Josh's hen venture and Pip will fly into orbit about how she should be given that money for a car.

Can someone explain the chickens to me. I've just googled and you can buy layers for ÂŁ12 or day-olds for ÂŁ5. Why exactly (or eggsactly) would Josh want to pay ÂŁ1200 to Neil and Hayley for ... what? I'm sure there is some spare land/outbuilding somewhere at Brookfield. Didn't Jill used to do eggs - she can give expert advice. He could even ruin the competition by withdrawing labour and working on his flock instead of theirs.
Why would Josh pay over all that money; has he been taking agri-economics lessons from Bridge Farm?

HumphreyCobbler · 08/05/2013 16:54

wouldn't he also be paying for the customer base? Rather than setting up in direct competition?

I see your point though.

Is it because he's buying the goodwill of the business? But there can't be that many hens if Josh can collect all the eggs before school, surely?

i thought he only started the chicken feeding because he had a soft spot for Phoebe, not sure if they are related or not, it gets very confusing remembering who fathered who Grin

Agree that the Pipster will indeed escalate into a mighty rage about the egg business.

As for the other egg business - Helen's Grin - I have to confess I was laughing so loudly at Jonathan's rapid exit stage left that I barely heard the end of the ep.

Surely he's a donor himself, and is panicking that he might be the Daddy?

Oh I just posted on the other Jonathan thread. He represents wider societal prejudice against DI that Helen will face, as well as adding to her tally of failed relationships.

Yy to the Josh/Pip thing. You could hear that one thundering into next week's plot, like a herd of Bridge Farm cows on their way to market. Or not, if they are riddled with TB.

Are Josh and phoebe not cousins?

Report
mummytime · 10/05/2013 14:09

Josh and Phoebe are quite distant cousins. Josh's grandfather was the brother of Phoebe's great grandfather, I think that makes then second cousins once removed.

Good knowledge, mummy!

Just to expand on mummytime's post, Phoebe's dad is Roy Tucker who as far as we know has not a drop of Archer blood in his veins. However, her mother is the dreadful Kate, who is the daughter of Jennifer and Brian Aldridge. Jennifer is an Archer by birth - her dad was Jack Archer, Phil's older brother. Phil was Josh's grandfather.

I bow to mummytime's superior knowledge of cousinship terms as my head starts to swim once I get beyond 'cousin'. It's not a close blood tie however you look at it so they could marry [run, Phoebe, run!].

Jolly Henry will have to face it too won't he?

BTW Ambridge in RL would be a small world wouldn't it? let alone in soapland Grin

OMG not another failed relationship for Helen Shock.

Can you name those people, too, mummytime ? I cannot remember what relationships I have to some in S Wales, though (because our late Mum was a half sister to some of their family) know we are related...

If you look up family tree on google, there are some nice images of drawn out family trees. However if you are Ambridge close to your relatives you might need this app.
