Its the same format, same middle of the road rubbish and now playing songs followed by the same song in a different language.

I cring when some tunes come on especially if a friend is here I feel strangly embrassed by how old he makes me feel!

i was listening to that god awful love songs yesterday morning and it made me sunday doubly depressing that usual. also he seem to like to sing over alot of the songs which is incredibly annoying. radio 2 is generally crap though imo

Steve Love The Bleeding Show Wright needs to be put out to pasture. His self-termed Big Show, screeching over songs, stupid factoids, ridiculous Old Woman, annoying friend and pathetic interview technique makes me rage like nobody has ever raged before.

I can't bear him, he should be put out to pasture preferably on the most remote regional station possible.

He makes me cringe, like the audition rounds on X factor.

There's a thread about Steve Wright every few weeks on MN. Must be doing something right Grin

Way past his sell by date and I can't stand the sycophantic tone he adopts when interviewing 'stars'.

I love the mornings but 2 to 5 deadful. Whats even worse is Saturday am - Brian Matthews and Graham Norton, the other stuff and improves when Dermot raises his head. Shame Alan Carr has left I loved it so much fun and cheesy pop.

Agree Sunday morning love songs...pityful!

I don't listen to him anymore, haven't done for ages.
He needs to go.

Yes! Same old patter "turn around & let me look at you - you're looking good today"; repeated factoids; the singing along/over tracks, very jaded!

He seems to have a lot of time off (thankfully) & I wonder if he has some kind of illness that has Radio 2 pitying/accommodating him.

He should be put onto a once a week evening show playing Northern Soul-type stuff imo.

who should we replace him with?

Oh, & Sunday Love Songs Hmm. Why the hell people can't tell their "gorgeous wife" they love them in person instead of contributing to that dross, I'll never know.

Zoe Ball??? She is so jolly but unsure whether day after day, year after year the same joyfulness can continue.

I don't mind Patrick Keilty when he stands in tbh but I think he's basically moved to the USA to be with Cat Deeley.

Yes he is awful. I find radio 2 goes
Good (Chris Evans)
Bad (Ken Bruce)
Good (Jeremy Vine)
Bad (Steve Wright)
Good (Simon Mayo)

My radio is constantly being retuned.....

I love Zoe Ball, Claudia Winkleman and even (whisper) Matthew Wright (I still miss the weekender he used to do on a Friday evening)

I love Ken Bruce the music is superb and hi-light being popmaster. It is refreshing.

I also quite like the thing Chris Tarrant does where two people submit their fave playlist & have to argue why CT should choose theirs to play. (Other than that tho', his "flirty" chat with Sally Traffic reinforces my belief that he's a sleazeball)

I like Ken Bruce, miss Wogan and switch off Steve Wright

Report
ISeeThreadPeople · 10/09/2012 18:09

Sally Traffic always sounds like she hates Tarrant.

I can't bear EP's cackle or Wogan either. They should all be locked in a room together. Wogan, Wright and EP cackling.

I love Graham Norton, Chris Evans and Ken Bruce. Oh and Aled on a Sunday.

Zoe Ball or Alan Carr-his Saturday evening slot was hilarious. Had to stop the car once when he was talking about his jeggings.

And change the format completely.

No, no, no to sucky air in over the teeth Tarrant.
No, no, no to Liza Turbuck.

Steve wright has been doing the same old since before he left R1!

Report
cakebot · 10/09/2012 18:24

I used to listen to him when I was a teenager on R1 many , many years ago, and it was the same cringemaking show then. I hate those stupid characters that come on, I hate his voice. I really resent it when I have to go and find some other station for 3 whole hours every day! I love it when he's on holiday and some guest presenter (anyone) comes on. Alan Carr and Graham Norton both hilarious on the radio, but not sure if they are too busy/famous to do every day.

=Love Chris Evans in the morning, nice mix of music/banter.
=Find Ken Bruce ok as background/wallpaper but wouldn't bother to put the radio on if its noton already, although I do like Popmaster
=Jeremy Vine, generally enjoy
=Steve Wight I will turn off the radio as he makes my teeth itch, and I have to control the urge to tell the radio to fuck off
=Simon Mayo good drive time choice, quite like him

Don't listen in the evenings!
